I mean, I wouldn't know if one of my co-workers was raping women on the side - in his personal time. How would I know? I might hear rumors that he 'cheats on his wife' or 'likes to fool around' but what should I do about that unless I have outright evidence?
The idea that the young woman looking for a break into movies will have to sleep with the director or producer to get the role is not rape but it is still absolutely wrong.
No woman should be faced with "Have sex with me or go back to being a waitress". Oprah knows what was going on. We all did.
True, but in Harvey's case there was clip after clip after clip making a joke of the things he was doing. I'm sure it was well known thru out the industry.
Back in those days, it's called business. C'mon McGown and Paltrow were all rewarded by Harvey.
Today it is still business but it will become less and less as many men are outted by social media. The outcome of this will be that many women will have a harder time getting roles or gigs without a way to get close to a studio exec.
I'm sure Harvey will just stick to flying to Thailand instead of sitting in the office.
Why would that surprise you if it were true?
Everyone else protected some weirdo creep.
Because they didn't want to rock the boat.
Because they thought of their OWN careers. Yes, even those women who were assaulted.
They paved the way for others to be assaulted. All of them. Those who turned a blind eye, and those who did not speak up.
Hollywood is a cesspool.
This should have been done decades ago.
The point I was making was that Oprah would be a hero for exposing it. The liberal media would put her on an even higher pedestal than they do now if she exposed Weinstein. Think about the ratings and how much money she'd make if she did know about Weinstein and exposed him with a prime time special?
She'd be invited to all the morning, daily, and late night talk shows. People would praise her. It would probably generate tens of millions for her brand.
Is that not a fair point, at least? That Oprah, with her clout, money, and popularity, would stand to gain a huge amount of revenue for the O brand if she exposed Weinstein with a tell-all special that included the interviews and stories of some of the most famous actresses with accusations against Harvey.
Do you think a woman with as big of an ego like Oprah has, and the financial gain she would see, would turn down the opportunity to break one of Hollywood's biggest stories ever on the network that she owns and operates?
Come on guys. Oprah was abused and raped and impregnated by her rapist. I do not think for one minute that she would ever look the other way if she had direct knowledge of any abuser.
