I am deeply ashamed of today's America- no sane person can be proud of it in its present state. I am not ashamed of being an American, though, because a decisive majority of Americans did not vote for this ignoramus and the despicable characters that surround him. We fell victim to an archaic and undemocratic system of elections and that is the one reason I am not disgusted with my American citizenship. I take comfort in knowing that Most of my fellow citizens are better than this.

I think there is still hope for this country but it will not shine until the dark underbelly, known as "Trump's base", is denounced on every street and in every corner, denounced loudly and clearly. Every child in every school must be taught how this ignorant and hateful movement came about and what the fallacies in its thinking are. That must be taught like we teach basic English or Math. I know it will happen and that knowledge keeps me inspired. Germany did it, Italy did it, Spain did it and so shall we.

Let all of us who still remember the words "decency", "humanity" and "knowledge" do everything within our ability to peacefully un-elect all members of Trump's party and place it in the trash bin of history where it duly belongs! If we don't do it, then who will?
We are not a democracy. We are a Republic, and our election system is anything but archaic. It is what makes us a Republic and not a Kingdom. Election by popular vote (democracy) is mob rule. The President represents the States in foreign affairs. He is not a direct representative of the people. He is elected by the 50 Sovereign States.

The "hope for this country" lies with Donald Trump. The last President, and Mr. Trump's opponent in the Democrat Party in 2016, stood for "transforming" America into a Socialist State.

What belongs in the "trash bin of history" is your political correct B.S. and "progressive" nonsense that has been destroying this country.

Your comment shows us your ignorance about our Constitution and the role of our Federal Government.

I can't say I'm thrilled with the President either. Especially his latest comments.

Even so, I would rather he be president than Clinton. Hillary Clinton ranks with lowest of all people ever to run for office and has been from the moment she appeared in the 1970's.

Her underhanded work on the Nixon impeachment earned her this reproof from Jerry Zeifman, then chief counsel to the House Judiciary Committee, "“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.”

It's been all downhill from there.

When you say "the whole rotten pile ignites and one side wipes out the other", what exactly do you mean?
One party will dissolve into two smaller ones, things like that?
Or something else?
Have you got an idea about the general direction of events?
I'm asking because I don't want to go off on a tangent here.

This is my take on it from the media, and city-data.

They're fed up of illegal immigration.
Fed up of a broken health system.
Fed up of poor paying jobs.
Fed up of ever rising rents.
Fed up of self seeking crooked politicians.
Fed up of America being taken advantage of.

They were looking for someone, anybody to shake the system up. That's why they voted for Donald Trump. If they don't get the change they seek, then they will look for someone else to do it next time. They don't want a movie star, or a television star, they want someone with the guts to really put Americans first.
This is about it.

Trump could have some more self control expressing himself, but we had that for eight years and ISIS expanded, we had regulations coming out of our ears, and the borders were uncontrolled.

I'm never surprised by Trump's comments...I had a boss just like him....and we worked very closely. He talked and bragged just like Trump, no filter what-so-ever, but had a whole lot of good points.
Sometimes, no, most of the time, you can't have it all.
we wanted a president that wasn't attached to the establishment
We wanted someone who would stop illegal immigration
Wanted someone who would get us out of debt, create jobs and get dead beats off welcome
We wanted an overhaul of our social services
and so far, he is fighting the establishment over doing so.

the reason I voted for him was this and so much more, especially when the Republicans were trying so hard to get rid of him...that proved to me, that they were afraid of him, and the changes he would make.

what I have to laugh at, is the woman's movement that call him a womanizer, b/c he made that comment about women....he was right, he didn't grab anyone, actually the corrupt media and people in Washington, couldn't find anything on him...so they hand onto his every word, hoping for him to screw up so they can swoop down on him like some bird of prey....and all they do, is run him down...they have not once, yet, reported his accomplishments, not once...and he's done more in his first year than Obama did in 8. All Obama did was run up our debt.

That not only proved to me, that the establishment, including liberals and republicans were afraid of him and the changes he would make. He is another JFK, fighting for the people and to bring back some sort of law enforcement to our country. I'm sick of people coming to this country and getting freebes, and our own are suffering, plus they are robbing money in Social Security and Medicare to give these freebes away. You can only do that so long. It's time the dead beats in this country work, become citizens or leave...

At the center of the Democratic Party (a/k/a the Cult of the Braying Jackass) are a hard core of the irresponsible, the irrational (over-feminized Snowflakes), the unmotivated, the addicted and similar failures who are essentially useless -- led around by a corps of deceivers and charlatans who will promise them anything -- just as long as someone else pays the bill.

This group is the driving force behind the Blue Cancer that is destroying the American Experiment; I want it stopped and disempowered, but I recognize at the same time, that we are all susceptible to Acton's famous observation that "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

I don't care all that much for Trump; he's too outspoken and could use some lessons in tact -- and he's not willing to divorce himself from "solutions" like a wall that won't work (it didn't work for the late unlamented Soviet Union). But thanks both to Korporate America's desire for cheap and submissive white collar labor and the blue-state elite's desire for cheap personal servants, it is becoming increasingly difficult to form a coalition with both foresight, and the recognition that the democratic process is more about protecting what we all have to lose, than about indulging our foibles at the expense of some convenient scapegoat.

But sooner or later, someone is going to have to put his/her foot down -- and put it down hard. The most obvious symptom is the irrational and largely-useless horde fouling the streets of our West Coast; sooner or later, they're likely to cause a public-health emergency that puts more of us at risk, and when that day comes, the are going to have to be removed to a place where they can't leave, and the rabble-rousers can't get in -- and they're all confronted with the same hard choices that face the majority among us who still cover most of our own bases.

This is probably the biggest single threat we face -- to negate the threat arising from a nation grown soft, without further eroding the traditions of self-reliance and skepticism toward authority and power that has served us well for the past 250 years.

So what's really going on here.
The President was defending his stance on who should and shouldn't be coming into the country and he used a street term. The idea that someone who was granted temp. access should return home is racist.
The word Trump used is seen as an opportunity for the left to distract from the issue itself. The hysteria is over a word not a deed done.

Apparently if the right words are used, and lets make sure they are very nice words, its OK for people to come here "undocumented" and injury, maim, murder or kill. Again notice the nice word "undocumented" in place of illegal. The fact that American citizens are unnecessarily impacted and whole lives of families are change is OK and that is the position of democrats.

If the "undocumented" or un-vetted refugee comes here and kills citizens the deed should be explained away using nice words and framed with sympathetic ideas to surround them, the "undocumented". Enter the concern for the "undocumented" who had family here. If we are going to be the "good people" we don't want to separate families. Oh no, they say that would be un-American and not who we are as a nation.

No concern at all for the family of citizens who have a dead family member and the permanent separation that will effect them for the rest of their lives. No serious thought given to that idea and fact. That's just something that should be expected and accepted as the price for being a good citizen. Apparently a good citizen is a dead citizen. I can't wait to line up and be a good citizen. You should get in that line too. In fact I let you cut in front of me.

Maybe they can explain why we have a government in the first place. Was it so we could protect everyone in the world but not the citizens who created this government ?
Many of us don't think so and no amount of nice words or language can convince me that is the role of citizen or government.

Trump was elected to put these ideas and democrats who have them in check. He is doing the deed. I'm not going to be bothered by street language but I will be bothered if he doesn't get the job done. He has the correct ideas and he is forging ahead everyday to get the job done.

Stop calling one side deplorable and another to leave. You are going nowhere with it.

Exactly. Our last election was a **** show, and we had two candidates to chose from. Some chose A others B, for whatever reasons. Just because someone voted differently than you doesn't make them no longer a fellow American. The hate that has developed is just unbelievable, it is just consuming some and there is no reason for it. Life will move on, let it go. And next election we start all over.

you feel better?
Guess what? I am completely sane. Every single day I wake up and thank God for Donald Trump winning the election. As for that undemocratic system. It was designed that way on purpose. and it built the greatest nation that has ever existed.

The Framers understood that a pure democracy was dangerous. they understood that in a pure democracy, he who rules the mob.... rules.

WE don't want that. now suck it up and deal with the fact that your team lost. You don't get a participation trophy you just lost.
