The EU is already breaking apart at the seams and independence movements fomenting across the continent. The United States even has deep divisions across state lines... and we're the same country!
People don't want to be governed by one central authority (well, maybe the Germans do, but they've gotten everything wrong for the past century so who cares what they think).
The future is just as likely to revert to City-States as it is a world government at this point, IMO.

We're all just people! We're human beings who just simply want to live in peace and harmony with our neighbors. I've been all over the world and I've learned to love all my brothers and sisters regardless as to where they were born.
Nobody has control over who their parents are or where they just happened to be born.
Friendships and allegiances can change. This is especially true insofar as neighbors, family members, and friendships are concerned. Physical proximity has entirely nothing to do with the deep appreciation one can possibly have for a person from a totally different country with a completely different culture....
The Swiss have never had the balls to stand up for what is right and have a society based on money first, everything else second. Eisenhower should have had the 8th Air Force level Zurich as punishment.
