Considering the military weaponry the Mexican cartels possess and their ability to construct tunnels, couldn't they blow access points through this wall or easily bypass it by burrowing? In a 6,400 mile wall all you need is a 2-foot wide hole or a 20-foot tunnel. Wouldn't the money be better spent on aerial surveillance, border agents, and cracking down on companies who hire undocumented immigrants?
In the interview with General Kelly he stated that right now they are trying to get another 700 miles of wall. He said that our President has accepted his views that the whole border does not need a wall. I said that in the beginning. If you do a Google 'Earth' flyover of the border there are many areas that have a natural physical barrier to any illegal crossing.
I liked how General Kelly stated that: If our President fails; our Country fails. He was talking about everything that our President is trying to accomplish. The General also stated that this was the hardest job he ever had and the most important job he ever had. He said he has no intention of quitting. In his interview he came over very believable and dedicated to helping/promoting America.

Well i guess a committed racist like Kelly is going to go all in now that he has a racist POTUS to manipulate ...
I would expect Kelly to hang in there right up until the Republicans turn on Trump, and then maybe even for a while longer...

White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly told Democratic lawmakers Wednesday that Mexico will never pay for a wall built by the United States along the entire stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border and that some of Donald Trump’s campaign promises on immigration were “uninformed,” according to lawmakers who attended the meeting.
OP, why did you snip that last line out when you copied and pasted the quote in here?

So - let's build a wall. It can be, oh, 100 feet long and made of stacked milk cartons. All it will take for Trump & Co. to shut up about their silly wall is for the rest of us to point at the milk carton barrier and pretend it really, really upsets us.
Upside: We can build it for about $75, plus the cost of the gold leaf lettering naming it the "Donald Trump hyperpatriotic barrier" or somesuch. Put his coat of arms on it as well.
Sounds suspiciously like a schoolyard (or even adult) bully, one who really doesn't give a **** about some supposed flaw in a person: They just care about being socially dominant just because they get a charge out of such behavior, even if demeaning that person doesn't do anything to raise their pecking order position.
And they wonder why so many people consider them crude and barbaric.
“The Wall” was a blustery campaign promise to rabble rouse that Trump threw out back when he never expected to actually get elected. It’s an albatross that he weighed down even more with his throwaway line about Mexico paying for it. Now he’s stuck with it and a rabid base of supporters who expect him to do something he never thought he’d need to do.
So of course he has to slowly walk it back, and/or find someone else to blame when it doesn’t happen.
Many of Trump's campaign promises were uninformed. Many were based on premises that were ignorant or based on bad information.
It is not surprising that someone experienced in government would see this.
