He paid to keep her quiet at different times and maybe had someone threaten her to be quiet on another occassion--the time w/her baby daughter
Someone could have arranged the threat-move on Trump's behalf wo his ok--it's possible
Like King Henry's complaints about Cardinal Becket were acted on supposedly w/o Henry's direct involvement
History hasn't turned up conclusive proof re Henry

if he had he'd be in even deeper legal trouble, witness tampering/obstruction of justice. it is illegal to pay hush-money to a witness of a crime even if the witness is a participant in that crime.
