I loved it when she was holding a press conference with some other Congresswomen in her age group, and Luke Russert (one of the reporters at the time covering the event) asked her a question.....meant to include others in her age group in leadership as well....about retiring and giving opportunities to younger members. Pelosi responded with an extremely fake laugh and tried to dismiss Luke as being disrespectful, even though he asked the question in a nice way. It was easy to tell Pelosi was p****d off at him. I laughed, and pictured Tim reaching down from heaven, patting his son on the back, and saying to himself with a proud smile on his face "That's my boy".
Based upon the past 10 years or so....it's easy to spot where Pellosi has decided that what's good for HER is good for the party. Don't get me wrong, she'll be replaced by another democrat eventually.
My comments are strictly tactical strategy and not partisan.
MY ONLY key point here is that I think the Democrats do better without her.
Perhaps I'm wrong. But here visual and track record recently are awful.
I do. She's knows the congressional rules inside and out and she's a fighter. I don't expect the GOP to like her, they viscerally hate any woman that opposes them and an older woman? They cannot stand an older woman fighting. So yes, she's a smart successful female politician that knows how congress works to the nth degree.
And did her husband get that billion dollar agent fee for selling the post offices?
she a highly effective leader. She is disciplined and knows how to control her caucus. When pelosi was speaker of the house the democrats got things accomplished. Ryan only wishes he could be half as effective.
I don't know how fair this is to Ryan. I can't stand the guy, but he's over there trying to herd cats and it can't be easy.
Honestly, I'm not crazy about Pelosi either. I just don't see why we should be okay with congresspeople and Senators who have been in office for more than a decade.
I agree. People like her and McCain are exactly why we need term limits for congress. I say give them 12 years, after that, their time is up. Let new blood come into play.
She's old and can't really connect with the younger crowd. But on the flip side.
She can effectively govern her own party. She's a pragmatist, not an ideologue. She goes for what's possible with her party to get enough votes, not push some extreme left wing (though she might agree with it) agenda like Bernie/Warren.
That's what I like about her, she's realistic and can actually get stuff done. Good example is the minimum wage increase proposal. The far left would push for $15/hr. She pushed for $10.10. $10.10 is much more reasonable with the Dems as a party than $15.
She's smart, accomplished, and female - which means conservatives automatically distrust her.

He could try not looking so smug all the time. That might go a ways in bridging the aisle.
