I was screeching at some kids at the intersection (aka "crossroads") near my house today. I called them demons and told them to scoot so we could get back to normalcy. "Stop advancing evil, you scamps!" I screamed in their cute little demon faces.
There's definitely no chance of "one nation" going forward.
We have at least two nations here, in a decades long cold-ish war, and a system that demands that whichever nation wins the demography race as it fits into the state college system, even by a hair, gets to essentially impose itself on the other nation for four years.
Its untenable. The concept of a nation depends on at least a measure of what seems to be a hybrid of ethnic and cultural cohesion. We haven' got that. What we have is an ever larger farce.
"Under God" was included in our currency, our pledge of allegiance, and its other intrusions during the last great spasm of religiosity in the early 1950s.
Now that organized religion is slowly dying all over the western world, it's only natural that there is another spasm of the religious making a big deal of its ever-present intrusion into our government, but no matter how loud it's trumpeted, it does not change the fact that our constitution takes great pains to separate the church from the state.
So, enjoy it while it lasts, if your nature is hypocritical enough to justify it. Our President is pretty openly non-religious, even if our Vice President is.
Just recognize that it is just another passing urge that won't last long and won't have much effect on our daily lives while it lingers.
God is not responsible for any of that. You see, he gives man something called "free will"...so all the wars, shootings, etc....thats mankind.... mankind can be so beautiful , right?
No such thing as free will. If I’m hungry, I have to eat. When I’m thirsty, I have to drink. I can’t NOT do those things if I desire to live.
Humans that desire to live don’t have free will. We do whatever is needed for our survival.

These Republicans would institute full religious rule if they could get away with it. Imagine this America...
1) A constitutional amendment passed repealing the establishment clause in the First Amendment, instead affirming America's Christian heritage
2) A constitutional amendment banning all abortions, no exception
3) A constitutional amendment not only banning same-sex marriage, but also overturning 2003's Lawrence vs Texas and banning sodomy nationwide.
4) Homosexuality banned with the penalty of jail time, deportation, execution, mandated ex-gay therapy, or lobotomy
5) Birth control banned; abstinence-only education mandated nationwide
6) Repeal of the 21st Amendment and reinstatement of the 18th and Volstead Act. Marijuana, both recreational and medical, prohibited in all 50 states.
7) All entertainment such as movies, music, visual art, and theatre as well as news and media publications must past a "morality code" test before they will be allowed into public circulation
8) Nationwide Internet filter blocking out sexual explicit sites and websites that promote an agenda against the church
9) 11PM national curfew without a permit;
10) Women barred from the workplace, with a few exceptions for occupations in which women would be allowed. Women would be barred from all leadership positions
11) Indecent exposure laws expanded to require strict gender-conforming attire in public. To sum it up, everyone would be required to dress like the characters on the show I Love Lucy
12) Public schools would be required to teach the Bible, Christianity, and creationism. Evolution would be banned from science classes.
13) Church attendance would be mandatory a few times per year for everyone. Tax breaks would be given to people who can prove they faithfully attend Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night.
14) Churches/religious institutions that did not agree with the "fundamentals" established by the government would be declared enemies of the state and shut down. This includes all liberal Christian denominations as well as Islam and any other pagan or non-Christian religious institution.
15) No-fault divorce banned
16) The EPA and all environmental regulations abolished
17) Escalation of full-scale war in the Middle East (a new crusade)
