Not necessarily. That sequence of events doesn't make him look any better. What it still comes down to is that when someone banged on the door, the Marine armed himself and went OUTSIDE to confront the man. The fact that the only one who got shot was the Marine still doesn't say anything about who shot first.
well agree to disagree then shrug

What difference does it make if he's a Marine or not. What relevance does that have with anything.

So tired of the media trying to sway public opinion based on one's military service.

What does that have to do with Michigan?

Michigan has some of the most lax gun laws in the country. Anyone that can pass a background check can own and carry pretty much any kind of gun they want.

Default When does a crime start?

There is a ton more to this story.
The police say the crime committed was when the homeowner discharged his weapon.
Discounting a threat by someone met that night as she exits the house.
Returning 15 minuets later with her boyfriend whom the homeowners, don’t know & have never met.
The boyfriend tries to break in the front door, damaging the entire door frame. The marine opens the door surprising the armed home invader, who jumps back, brandishes an illegally carried pistol & goes to pull his gun. The marine pulls & discharging his weapon at the man who doesn’t live there, has no business there & just about broke through the door. The homeowner retreats back into the house & the armed home invader, continues to shoot after the marine is back in the house. 2 bullets through a closed door & 4 more into the house with 5 people & a baby inside.
The police say the crime was the homeowner using his legally owned firearm.
The home invaders flee, the homeowner calls 911
The police do arrest the girl in the home who bought these people to the house because she gave a fake name, doesn’t tell the police the last name of the 2 until 7 hours later, is found with pills that aren’t hers and is on probation in 2 local cities. She is not held after all of that & allowed to come from home 5 days later for her arraignment, at which time she is assigned a $50,000 bond. I believe she was supposed to let the other 2 in the house.
The police do not make an effort or put out a BOLO for the gunman and girlfriend who flee
The homeowner asks for a lawyer. Super cop doesn’t like that. Continues to question the homeowner and arrests him. The police decide on attempted murder charges against the marine 4 hours before they interview the armed home invaders, whom the police finally make contact with & asked to come in.

It doesn’t make sense, but wait there’s more.
The police refused to allow the marines lawyer to see him in jail.
Lawyer gets a writ from a sitting circuit court judge, police say it’s not valid.
After 4 days the police are gracious enough to allow the wounded homeowner to make a phone call.
I could go on & on, there was no altercation over a girl.
5/6 people at the house just met the girl & never met the boyfriend.
There is no aha moment here

It IS Detriot, a city controlled by Democrats for decades. And it IS common for Democrats to side with violent criminals, to support them, to demand their release. And it is also common for Dems to attack those that believe they should be able to defend themselves and their families in their own homes. So the GP article is quite believable. Flip side-it is not proven. Kinda like Russian hacking, it's time to wait for the facts to come out before jumping to conclusions and looking stupid.

Great summary of the story.

My take on this ? the district attorney is abusing process and filing a false prosecution. Unfortunately the ABA and its members have whittled away the protections that the people once had so they can exercise a monopoly on justice.

It shouldn't matter if this is over a woman, or over a piece of biscotti. The fact is that this young Marine was the only one shot in HIS OWN HOUSE.

Unfortunately Both military training and martial arts training can put you into a "deadly weapon" category in the eyes of the law and you will be judged differently in a court of law if you use such training improperly and sometimes if you don't.
It really depends on the states, jury, judge, prosecutor, and attorney.

Where exactly did you get this information since it does not appear anywhere other than right wing blogs. No major or local news sources have carried anything except what the OP posted. Maybe you were there to take this all in.
