this shutdown is all on congress for not passing a proper budget, but rather governing by continuing resolutions. this idiocy has ben going on since 2007 when the democrats took over power in congress. so lets put the blame where it belongs, on congress as a whole.
this particular shut down is on chuck shummer, because he wanted a DACA fix in the bill, and he wanted HIS DACA fix, and wont accept anything less. trump has laid out what he wants for a DACA fix, border security, ending chain migration, and ending the visa lottery. chuck shummer offered an insult to trump on the border wall, and the rest, and shummer considered himself insulted when trump told him to stuff it, becaue shummer thinks HE should be running things, not trump or anyone else at this point.
Per highlighted - since 1977, there have been 4 fiscal years where a complete budget was passed and done so on time. 1977, 1989, 1995, and 1997. That's it, that's all.
Neither party is a fan of proper budgeting because their lack of adherence to a proper budget can be used against them during election campaigns. Hence, the magic of the continuing resolution where they spend whatever they want, don't really let the American people in on the game, all in order to keep enjoying >90% incumbency rates.
Not a Dem or Republican specific thing. Just standard hijinks of the aristocracy going back 4-5 millennia.
Congress needs to forget about getting a straight answer from Trump. Not gonna happen.
They need to come up with something they can pass and put it in front of Trump to sign.
If Miller tries to grab the pen, someone needs to slap him him away.
Congress needs to take Trump and his staff out of the negotiations all together. It's not the president's job to craft legislation, it's the Senate's. Let the Senate do their job. Then the president can sign it or veto it, as per his job.
And knowing that Trump is being led by Stephen Miller means the GOP is going to have to make sure the bill is veto proof, meaning a true bipartisan solution to this stalemate. And that would actually be a good thing.
As long as the Republicans continue to cower in fear of this unpredictable and unthinking president, nothing can happen. Time for the GOP to grow a pair.
A Spec Ops team with all sorts of tools worked for three weeks to get over a 30 foot wall while a youtube video shows three Vietnamese guys with wooden pole doing this in less than three minutes.
We're bleeding ourselves dry with endless wars for no good reason.
Our federal government is shut down, apparently because POTUS follows the advice of an alt-right nutter.
We're not badass. We're getting our asses handed to us.
Have nothing to add, but this was a fantastic post.
Is there really a video of Vietnamese guys scaling the wall that Spec Ops could not, that would be epic. Has some incredible meme potential.
