So many Americans think scientists are paid by liberals to lie, and prefer to "trust their gut" when it comes to global warming, evolution, and other things. I'm not surprised.

Don't be fooled by their claims.
This is certainly the case in cancer research. The Chinese publish a lot of papers but contribute relatively little to advancement of the field.

The Chinese mentality and culture is not conducive to innovation. They are great at stealing, copying, counterfeiting, etc. And with all the effort they put into imitation and simulation, you'd THINK that same amount of effort directed into original thought might pay off. But it doesn't.

They invented gunpowder, then basically decided that was enough.

So what? this doesnt exactly seem like news to me.

The 'Invention Secrecy Act of 1951' killed any chance of the US being anything special, they are more interested in suppressing new technology rather than innovation, have a look at why this act was even created and still in force today for proof of that!
