The Dems had to cave because they are a minority party. For the good of the country i.e. to get the government back up and running they had to do what they had to do. They don't have the numbers to get what they want.

Merely a skirmish in the long battle. The Republicans have to negotiate a deal or the government will go down again in Feb and likely a few more times or for a much longer period.

In the end the Republican will fold on DACA. And then the will have to deal with why they could not have done it earlier.

Going to be an interesting spring.

Exactly.

Great way to start the midterm campaign.

McConnell's shut down of McCaskill's attempt to pay the military is going to PAC ad gold.

But the biggest surprise came when the American people kept hearing the media and other leftists telling them that it was the Republicans who shut it down. Of the few who listened to the media any more, most didn't believe their reports!

After more than a year of President Trump and other Republicans not backing down, but pointing out that the media no longer practices journalism, but merely advocates on the side of the Democrats and socialists, normal Americans no longer turn to the media to learn what's going on in the world. They increasingly turn to websites of all stripes, social media, and others who can disagree and prove their disagreements well founded, which the media scarcely ever did.

IOW, the people no longer believe what they Democrats say, but look it up for themselves... and find out the real facts before coming to their own conclusions.

This is often fatal to the Democrats, whose entire existence has long depended on fooling the voters into thinking they will do something they promised. Pointing out the actual results of what the Democrats do (if anything), rather than let their rosy promises and failed programs go unquestioned, is what the Democrats fear the most. And that's exactly what happened this time. The American people weren't satisfied with their glib plans and explanations, but sought out sources and venues outside the usual media channels. And what they found differed sharply from the media's usual Republicans-did-it-all... and the evidence they backed it up with, couldn't be refuted by the nonplussed Democrats in and out of the media.

Democrats lost for the first time, because their allies in the media were unable to cover for them any more, and people were finding out the truth instead. Leading the charge was President Trump, who frequently broadcast what the Dems were doing and how their programs didn't deliver as advertised. The Dems could only scream in rage, insult him, call him names etc... but the people were no longer fooled.

This is a sea change of earth-shaking proportions on the American political scene. A Democrat party who can no longer rely on the media to tell people how wonderful, effective, and beneficial they are to the nation, is in great peril of the people finding out they are none of those things. And we can look forward to many more failed Democrat attempts to push programs that don't work and blame Republicans for the failures.

Schumer and Pelosi lost big time yday as everyone with common sense knows this was all because of Trumps anniversary party!

Just a couple of spoiled kids who tried to ruin the party and now face major loss in 2018 elections as the public can clearly see how Democrats without corruption stand up for Americans....they don't!

It is all about getting and adding the illegals to be able to vote! Democrats want criminals to vote and illegals to vote!

That's the policy of the left! Americans can be forgotten as illegals are too important for Democrats!

Schumer and Pelosi aren't even embarrassed that they said the opposite under Obama and that is not just because over the years someone changes their mind but all political games that the Democrats played for years.

Now, Americans can't be fooled any longer and Schumer shut down blew up in Schumers face! Of course Schumer will try to spin it with the help of Clinton New Network that under leadership of some big Democratic donors try to hide the corruption of the left and what really happened during the elections.

Democrats got:

- CHIP health insurance funding for millions of low income children, which majority of Americans want.

- McConnell (R) on camera shutting down McCaskill's (D) attempt to pay our troops. PAC ad gold.

- a live demonstration of how bipartisanship works with Republicans. More Democrats are needed in the Senate if we want the will of the people to prevail -- majority of Americans approve of DACA.

- a cause to rally the troops for the next three weeks to phone and email their representatives in Congress.

This has to be a joke. The Democrats cave to the Republicans all the time, this is nothing new. We've had 8 years of Republican intransigence, but oh it's the Republicans who always back down. You have to be a right-wing extremist to have that perception. Because that you means you hold every single concession Republicans make to Democrats against them, and completely ignore all the concessions Democrats have ever made.

Those of us on the left have actually been pissed with Democrats over the last 8 years for their spinelessness in the face of the cunning, ruthless GOP.

Skimmed your write up and yes - the bottom line is that regular people aren't buying the crap that the left wing media is trying to shovel. Not any longer.

It's delicious watching the Rs crow about how they forced the Ds to bend to their will because there aren't enough Ds in the Senate.

If there is better way to start out the midterms for Ds, I don't know what it would be.
