Seems like every day there are many articles from the news media telling us about how rich America would be if it simply hired more women. According to feminists writing these articles, mothers should go back to work right after having a baby to be like Norway.

All these articles about hiring more women sure are interesting. It seems like every day there is a big commentary about how the solution to everything is to "hire more women" "hire more women"

Usually, the articles then go on to blame the lack of free childcare for the low female labor force participation rate compared to the past and some other countries.

I really hope that the blue states adopt universal free child-care with their own money. It seems like a novel experiment best tried in liberal states with their own state and local tax money.

California should be first. Free childcare for all, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week paid for with higher taxes and also $15 minimum wage plus FICA tax, health-care for employee and their entire family and workers compensation.

The average cost of childcare is already $13,671 in California and that is before the minimum wage increases that just started. I am sure that employers are likely to have to pay several dollars more than minimum wage also for good child-care workers, so that cost is likely to go way up when the minimum wage increases are implemented.

Beth Ann Bovino also recommended that more companies offer flex-time for women instead of having a designated schedule.

The assumption is that women and men are the same and have the same abilities and work goals on average. So if any desirable employment area lacks female participation in equal or greater numbers than men, it must be the fault of sexism and the patriarchy.

With the uproar over President Trump among those on the left, it's a perfect time to reestablish federalism and return many government functions and their own money back to the states, where states can use their own money within their own state boundaries to experiment as they see fit on a whole host of issues.
