"President Trump ordered the firing last June of Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel overseeing the Russia investigation, according to four people told of the matter, but ultimately backed down after the White House counsel threatened to resign rather than carry out the directive.

The West Wing confrontation marks the first time Mr. Trump is known to have tried to fire the special counsel. Mr. Mueller learned about the episode in recent months as his investigators interviewed current and former senior White House officials in his inquiry into whether the president obstructed justice.

After receiving the president’s order to fire Mr. Mueller, the White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn II, refused to ask the Justice Department to dismiss the special counsel, saying he would quit instead, the people said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they did not want to be identified discussing a continuing investigation.
Mr. McGahn disagreed with the president’s case and told senior White House officials that firing Mr. Mueller would have a catastrophic effect on Mr. Trump’s presidency. Mr. McGahn also told White House officials that Mr. Trump would not follow through on the dismissal on his own. The president then backed off.
Ty Cobb, the president’s lawyer who manages the White House’s relationship with Mr. Mueller’s office, said in a statement, “We decline to comment out of respect for the Office of the Special Counsel and its process.”"

Sure...of course..out of 'respect'...ROTFLMAO!
This is no big deal anyway..just a story of how Trump was saved from himself..in a way..it's a win for the Trumpkins.

There is no White House denial..that is telling--and the players..are the very ones saving Trump from himself
Where is it stated that Trump or any sitting President can't fire a special counsel? Granted it's not very good optics and didn't end well for Nixon. Are we at the point where the sitting POTUS can't weigh all the options available to him, have a discussion with his aides about what best course of action to take? It is not taboo to discuss the firing of anyone. If you look at the reasons Trump gave they aren't terrible. However, a Presidents aides are supposed to save the President from himself at times. In this case the system worked. So what's the problem??

IMO This all comes back to Sessions. He started this whole thing. The man is weak and has no backbone. Look at Eric Holder. He was a pitbull for Obama. He weaponized his position as AG and even got cited for Contempt of Congress and should have been locked up. Instead, he just smiled and pushed the Obama doctrine forward. Now look at Sessions. He is weak. Naming Sessions as AG may go down as the worst move Trump ever made.

Comey wasn't investigating Trump. At least that's what Comey himself said, under oath. But Trump has good reason to fire anyone investigating "him" because the investigation of a person rather than a crime is un-American, unconstitutional, and just plain wrong.

Surely you must be overlooking the actions of Trump himself.

#1 Firing of Comey and Trump doing the happy dance for Russians and claiming he did it to get Comey shut down.

#2 Confirmation by "left" media and double confirmed by propaganda arm (Fox) that Trump tried to shutdown Mueller.

I really enjoyed the comment that someone made that Trump was trying to do taxpayers a favor by shutting down a costly investigation. If Trump was concerned about saving money he shouldn't have given away a trillion+ dollars to his friends and big business.

Massive news, confirmed by news sources on both sides of the aisle.

Trump ordered that the Special Counsel be fired, and lied to the American people for months.

Meanwhile on City Data, the thread is half way down the page, with these major news stories above it:

- President Trump is sexy
- Senator Duckworth is pregnant
- Thank You Trump
- How do we deal with the screaming whiners
- Do women want sympathy for their poor choices?

Meanwhile the hilarious story about the Gugenheim offering Trump a golden toilet was deleted twice. It's like our version of that Hannity video.

Trump is guilty as sin, obstruction is just the tip of the iceberg.

No bank in NY will lend to Trump because of his history as a deadbeat. So, long before this election- YEARS ago he had to lend from the Russians or go bankrupt again. They were the only ones left! This is FACT, go Google it if you want. The Russians only lent to him because they had ulterior motives. They began to compile as much dirt on the guy as they could, knowing they could use it down the road for blackmail if necessary. They played him for the moron he is and it worked beautifully for them.

The pee tape, the romps with prostitutes, all of it is very likely real. A significant amount of his properties have been sold with illegitimate money for purposes of laundering, stemming from such lovely things as terrorism, child pornography, and drugs via shell corporations. So him talking about "cleaning up" the U.S. is laughable. He's the biggest supporter of terrorism there is- because he's willing to sell to them for the right price. And has. That in and of itself doesn't make him guilty- but it shows exactly what kind of person he is.

You have to understand Mueller is working on an entirely different case that spans decades, involving literally hundreds of people if not more. You can't compare it to Watergate. I believe the case is much further along than most people would think. It's not like they are going to give any hints, you know? That's what a good Special Counsel does. Stays dead silent and sticks to the facts in a professional manner, working carefully and diligently.

Trump WILL with almost total certainty be found guilty of perjury if Mueller subpoenas him to meet, which he will if Trump refuses. Either that or obstruction, there is no other option. Trump can't walk away from a subpoena at this point, it doesn't work that way. He's being pushed into the corner he rightfully belongs in, and he knows it. Whether impeachment charges are brought by the Republicans after that part shakes out remains to be seen. I think public pressure will be so high they will have to for their own political survival. Whether it's to suppress the already gargantuan-level Blue Wave about to surmount in November or after, it won't make much difference. The public is so closely engaged and aware of what's happening now it'll destroy them either way should they fail to act.

After that, when the real meat-and-bones of collusion and money laundering is exposed the real question will come about. Trump will be forced to resign, that's my bet. And President Pence will then decide whether to a.) pardon him or b.) let him spend the rest of his miserable life in prison.

I'm really hoping he chooses b.

Next you’re going to tell us that people don’t commit crimes, crimes commit crimes.

Murdoch pulled Fox news in the UK because it's daily viewing figure was less than 2,000. The reason viewing stats were so low was of the example you posted above.

People should not forget that it was Fox news, not CNN, that went to court in Florida to protect it's right to lie to and mislead it's viewers. Hannity's actions during that piece was a superb example of a botched attempt to mislead his viewers.
