I would seriously consider this, under different circumstances, and it has nothing at all to do with "hating" anything. It just sounds like a neat opportunity, and a challenge.
Wouldn't mind checking out Italy however the catch is the houses that are for sale need a lot of work and could easily cost up to $25,000.and up to fix them up.

$25,000 is actually pretty cheap, when it comes to fixing up a house.

Well almost free. Homes selling for $1.20 in an effort to revitalize a small, dying community in Italy.
For those who hate America (and for all those celebrities who threatened/promised to leave the US if Trump won the presidential election) here's your chance to get into an old stone home for next to nothing.
Sardinia isn’t really Italy, and I’ve never known a Sardinian who though of themselves as Italian.
Buy at your own peril. There’s a reason why the island is hemorrhaging people. It’s a beautiful place (I’ve been), but its youth is full of despair from lack of opportunities.
Good point. I have a somewhat strict diet I'm on and would want to have access to things like high fiber breads and the cashew milk that I drink with certain items and by itself.
They don’t eat a typical Italian diet. Their food consists more of seafood than anything else. They eat far healthier on average than what you’d find in most of Italy...especially Southern Italy where the food is very rich.
I LOVE America and I might want to get in on this.
There are simply no words for how awesome Italy is. Were is Tuscany rather than Sardinia, I would throw the dice and pay the crushing European taxes that come will come with it.
Sardinia too is drop dead beautiful. I love Italy as well. IMO, no other country has so much man made beauty combined with natural beauty. It's truly an astonishing place.
That said, it's not home to me even though I speak the language and I wouldn't live there for that reason. Italians live quite well overall regardless of politics.

Seafood is part of a typical Italian diet as most Italians live somewhere along the coast or close enough to the coast. Italians have one of the highest life expectancy in the world. I've spent months at a time in Italy and ate seafood almost every day.
A typical Italian diet is quite healthy. That's the biggest reason Italians live so long.
