Statement from John McCain after the Nunes memo was made public:
In 2016, the Russian government engaged in an elaborate plot to interfere in an American election and undermine our democracy. Russia employed the same tactics it has used to influence elections around the world, from France and Germany to Ukraine, Montenegro, and beyond. Putin’s regime launched cyberattacks and spread disinformation with the goal of sowing chaos and weakening faith in our institutions. And while we have no evidence that these efforts affected the outcome of our election, I fear they succeeded in fueling political discord and dividing us from one another.
The latest attacks on the FBI and Department of Justice serve no American interests – no party’s, no president’s, only Putin’s. The American people deserve to know all of the facts surrounding Russia’s ongoing efforts to subvert our democracy, which is why Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation must proceed unimpeded. Our nation’s elected officials, including the president, must stop looking at this investigation through the warped lens of politics and manufacturing partisan sideshows. If we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin’s job for him.
Based on some of the previous comments, I'm sure the next post will be one saying that McCain is an idiot or just as corrupt as Rosenstein. Have at it. But, I personally agree with McCain.
This investigation was not started to target Trump; it was started to get to the bottom of possible foreign influences on the election. Trump made it about Trump.
Let Mueller finish the investigation. Let the DOJ Grand Jury decide which evidence should be considered based on errors in the procedures used to obtain it, and whether there is enough evidence to proceed with further indictments. Then, let the courts decide the fate of those already indicted (or who have plead guilty) and any possible future indictments (there may not be any). Anyone accused of wrong doing who is innocent will have their day in court to prove their innocence. That's the way the system works.
If you BELIEVE in the American Justice system and American rule of law, let it do its job.
So Steele leaks part of his dossier bull crap to Yahoo News, and the Obama Justice Department says "Look, Yahoo News is an independent source, and they are reporting the same thing, so it must be legitimate."
Quite a racket isn't it? I would like the FISA Court Judges to issue a statement of some sort.
It's also interesting that the Judge who presided over Mike Flynns "guilty plea" to his Special Counsel indictment was Recused 5 days later ....... turns out, he was a FISA Court Judge.
its funny how libs are posting in his thread non stop. One even said it was a dud yet they refresh this thread every minute. The memo is the main story all over the news shows and all the boards and all the political web sites.
Comey said the Dossier was "unverified and salacious" yet used it and it's author's planted news leaks for a FISA warrant to surveil Trump camp. None of this adds up.
And a renewal requires that significant material was gathered in the last 90 days, so that in itself tells you that the basis of a renewal could not be the dossier which is a static document that has not been changed in over a year.
Excellent point, 3 warrants approved since October 2016.
