IMHO the greatest single thing Donald Trump has done is to reveal to the public, how mendacious, biased, and inaccurate the mainstream media is. Hs "Top Ten Fake News Awards" were a masterstroke. All he had to do is point out what the media said (backing it up from public records), and let the public realize how the results differed so sharply from the media's descriptions. Again and again, making the pattern unmistakable.

Now when Chuck Schumer (D-NY) starts in on his usual drone of how bad Republicans are, and the media obediently repeat it far and wide with no attempt to correct any of it with facts, now the American people know better than to take i for granted they are giving a fair picture. They seek out non-mainstream sources and find out that the MSM is nowhere near correct. And they realize more and more that the MSM has been lying to them, both actively and by omission.

Now when they try to claim that "Republicans shut down the government", normal people just shake their heads in weary cynicism and know better: Its democrats who are blocking every effort to pass a normal budget while supporting illegal aliens etc. And only the media's twists and fibs have let them get away with it... until now.

Thank you, President Trump, for revealing the media's mendacity so clearly and accurately. You have done the country a great benefit.

The big question should be why haven't Republicans passed a budget yet? They bitched about Obama not passing a budget but here it is 13 months later and still no budget. They have control of all 3 house and yet still can only do 30 days at a time?

Why don't the Pubs just go ahead and pass a budget instead of these silly CRs?

Breaking news: If the republican tax cuts hadn't been sending the deficit spiraling, they wouldn't need to be worrying about government shutdowns so frequently in the first place.

As of today, the Senate has passed a 2-year Budget Agreement (not just a CR). But Nancy Pelosi is still blocking things in the House, threatening to shut down the government yet again.

President Trump, seeing that Democrats are trying to scare him into caving like Republicans of old used to, simply called their bluff, indicating he wasn't scared at all: "Sure, I'd love to see a shutdown."

Ball's in your court, Demmies. The Republicans have offered you more than you ever hoped to gain. Will you still keep trying to RESIST all compromises, reject all offers, except those which 100% conform to your wants alone?

You've got about 7 hours left, before your next govt shutdown begins. How did that work out for you last time?

Will the Dems try their govt-shutdown tactic again? Or have they learned from the whipping they took the last time?

Any chance the Democrats will actually start cooperating for the good of the nation for a change? And help pass an actual budget, so we can finally get off these silly CRs?

Lawmakers push fifth short-term bill to avert government shutdown

Deirdre Shesgreen, Eliza Collins and Nicole Gaudiano,
USA TODAY Published 5:36 p.m. ET Feb. 1, 2018 | Updated 5:48 p.m. ET Feb. 1, 2018

WASHINGTON — Start your government shutdown clock again.

With another fiscal deadline looming, Republican leaders said Thursday the House and Senate would vote on a fifth short-term spending bill next week to keep the government open past Feb. 8, when current federal funding runs out.

“We’re still negotiating the contents and the duration of that,” House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., told reporters in West Virginia where House and Senate Republicans were holding their annual retreat.
But the plan for another stop-gap bill quickly ran into resistance from hardline House conservatives, as well as House Democrats, so it’s not clear Ryan has the votes to pass such a measure.

House Democrats leave Feb. 7 for their annual retreat, adding pressure to pass legislation early.
I believe Nancy is just doing what her President wants. He thinks a shutdown would be great! Some folks you just can’t please...
