I voted no for my husband who thinks the idea of a grand parade is stupid and a waste of taxpayer money.

He retired after 30 years of service in the Navy and is a current Federal civil service employee for the Dept of Defense. He is also a lifelong Republican who voted for Trump.

When I asked him, he said that he didn't join up to get public praise; he joined up because he wanted to serve his country. He knows the contributions he made over his many years of service (and is still making); he doesn't need a parade to feel good about himself or his service.

The poll didn't ask about what military spouses thought of the parade. I was a military wife for 25 years. When my husband was on active duty, given the choice between seeing my husband march in a public parade and having him get the day off to spend with our family, I know which I'd have chosen as a way of "celebrating" his service.

I can't speak for all military spouses, of course, but my hunch is if you ask them that question (see your husband march in a grand parade or get to spend the day with him), more than a few would agree with me.

I don't even see it as being for the military or for Trump, but for America in general. I very much appreciate and respect the military but while this is about them it's also for the American people to experience a moving sensory display of our military on a large scale. Something they would never otherwise see. A lot of people would be blown away (no pun intended).

But if it would cause chaos because some people hate Trump so much then it's not worth it.

You know what would be a good idea? Spending the millions that would go to this parade on our veterans and soldiers whose health issues and suicide rates are skyrocketing instead of wasting it on emulating dictatorships like North Korea and Russia so that morons like you can get a boner.

Bam! If for no other reason, that makes it a good idea!

Most of these Pu--ys that are pissing and moaning over this probably wouldn't pass the physical to serve, let alone have a high enough IQ.

I am opposed to a military parade but not because I think the president is nuts, which he is. As a Trusty Shellback in This Man's Navy, I want them to drag one of our old battleships up Pennsylvania Avenue, or just forget the whole damn thing

Not good enough for tRump.

Those airshows were scheduled months or years in advance, not demanded by him for his personal review from a stand built specifically for him in order to stroke his fragile ego.

Maybe he's compensating for tiny hands. Or something else.

The taxpayers' money argument does not make sense.
The soldiers are already "hired". It is just a matter of shifting duties for several months maybe.

On that day, there will be some cost for security and maintenance, but that's it.

It costs a tiny fraction of Super Bowl.
