I would like him to resign so we can get someone in there who will carry out the law and order we voted for. If he's ineffective, why won't he leave? This leads me to believe that his entire job was to cozy up to Trump during the campaign, get the AG job and be the gatekeeper for the corruption on both sides of the aisle. He just doesn't seem that bright though, so I tend to believe he's a coward in over his head. Still, RESIGN already!
Sessions won't leave because he gave up his Senate seat and took the AG office because he's committed to carrying out law and order Sessions-style - addressing illegal immigration.
Why would he risk discrediting himself even more by further involvement in Trump's "Russia" problems?
Sessions seems to prefer to keep his eyes on the ball not wander off into tangents. That, would be "ineffective" - for his goals (immigration) though not perhaps for Trump.
No argument that Trump would prefer the "ball" to be witch-hunts.
He's there to make sure those durned hippies quit smoking those marijuanas and by gum that's what he's gonna do!
Actually, he is forcing it to be decided publicly and in the halls of congress or eventually in the Supreme Court, that this is in fact a 10th Amendment issue. He has to enforce the laws on the books.

I'm sorry but I just don't believe he's going all 3D chess on this issue. It may well backfire on him and congress may take things in to their own hands, which would be great, but he's gone after pot because he has a hard on over it like many people in his generation do. He's got reefer madness on the brain and so far it's been the only issue he's been willing to be aggressive about.
There's a second ongoing thread on this topic today - all this concern creates the sense of being desperate.
But ... per that thread, Sessions is waiting for an IG report before he weighs in further. Makes sense. Kind of like we should wait for the Mueller report.
Mueller has been "working on it " for about a year.
Why HASN'T HE finished yet? "Lots of solid evidence of criminality now commonly known."
I'm running a bet.
Which damning report will come out first.
Special Council Mueller's?
IG Horowitz's?
The race is on.
