I'm of the opinion that we need to ban the AR 15, which is the opinion of a majority of people. We're not talking about banning all guns, but because of these mass shootings in recent history, I think the AR 15 ban would be a good idea, along with other issues being addressed such as universal background checks, mental health issues, raising the purchase age, etc. Hope these ideas can finally gain some traction.
why would banning a basic 22 cal rifle be a good idea??

its not automatic
its not an assault rifle... its a puny 22cal

let's look at that poll
GUNS2 Which of the following do you think would do the most to curb school shootings?
Banning assault rifles 697 36%

Enhancing school security 618 32%

Increasing commitment to 620 mental health issues 32%

GUNS4 Do you think semi-automatic weapons (e.g., AR-15) should be banned for purchase or should adults who pass background checks be allowed to buy them?
Banned for purchase 1176 61%

Adults who pass background 758 checks should be allowed to 39% buy them

now note the question...semi-automatic weapons..................95% of handguns are semi-automatic..............60% of rifles are semi-automatic

so what are the 1900 people polled saying BAN GUNS

enough with the fascist gun banning ploy

So it says:

banning the kind of semi-automatic rifle that was used earlier this month in a massacre
But leaving all other semis available and OK? Its a pretty illogical position, which is why "popular opinon" is nowhere near a good enough measure to change such a long standing, integral law of the land.

Guess we'll all have to wait and see where popular opinion (and votes) get us.

Well popular opinion and votes don't change the constitution, so I have a fairly safe guess as to where those two things will get us.

No one wants to change the Constitution, but yeah, I'm all for some laws being enacted. There's a lot of room between changing the Constitution and changing laws.

There is another generation of voters like the millions who voted for Trump that the left ignored, dismissed and demonized before the election who aren't heard by the media but will be at the ballot box.
Have these kids been invited to speak on Fox News? Rush Limbaugh's show? Tomi Lahren's show? If not...why not?

Right, so banning things "like" the AR is a pretty broad swath, which was the point I was contesting. Popular opinion on that ban of things "like" it would be pushing the limits of the Constitution.
