Better suggestion: If you commit a violent crime with a firearm, we don't let you out of prison until you are too old to even hold a gun, much less aim it.
Convicted felons can't legally own a firearm now.
Is that true in every state? Hope it is a federal law. I agree with both of those. Would rather be too strict than too lenient with all these crazy, violent shootings.

Some states are less strict, but all of them place restrictions on firearms ownership by felons. In Texas, after 5 felony free years, you can own a firearm but not carry it outside the home.
You can be bat s*it crazy, but without an automatic weapon it'll be much harder to carry out your vengeance on the world. You can be unable to cope at all, but without an automatic weapon it'll be much harder for you to carry out your vengeance on the world. Yes, you can use other methods, but harder and less victims hurt/killed. It goes around in a futile circle of ridiculous thoughts.
Study other countries, what they do and how they do it, w/ less violence than we have. Then, you'll have your answer. Study who gets NRA money and then you'll have your answer.
Exactly. That's why my vote was 'guns'.

There really are no more excuses. The last 3 most horrific shootings occurred in the past 5 months in AMERICA.
Everyone wants to blame guns but not address the deeper issues as to why these mass shootings are really happening.
I am old enough to remember when 30 years ago you rarely if ever heard about shootings like what happened yesterday.
Kids had better coping skills then than they do now. People with mental health issues werent allowed to roam the streets like they are today.
What is the main issue:
guns,
coping skills,
or mental health?
choose one and state why?
I did not read all 13 pages of this thread, but the answer is obvious, a GUN is not a living object, it can do nothing on it's own. There is always a person pulling the trigger. We have a people problem, not a gun problem.
If you take a firearm and load it, leave it lying on a table, if no one ever touches it, guess what happens, the GUN will never go off, it is that simple.

I call BS. Other countries have depressed teenage boys too - but GUESS WHAT? They don't go shooting up classmates because they don't have EASY ACCESS TO GUNS.

Three things:
1.) when intent to kill is there a person will find a way. Other countries that have very strict gun law, have other problems, like bombs or other means of killing
2.) As you stated got a hold of a gun and when crazy. But again, the GUN by it's self did absolutely nothing on it's own. It took a person pulling the trigger with hate in their heart to commit these kind of crimes.
3.) If the amount of GUN'S is the problem, how do you explain firearm ownership has been on the rise for many years, but overall violent crimes has been declining until the last year or two.
Thank BLM, Antifa, and the demonization of police for the uptick in crime the last few years. Criminals now feel emboldened, and entitles. Still, the long term trend is down, and has been for decades.
