Sadly, you are correct.

We can go back and forth all day on just about any issue, and get no where.

It is MY OPINION that Citizens United plays a heavy role in why we can't get many things done, including gun control.

When the politicians sold out to special interest, many years ago, it was bad. When the SCOTUS endorsed it in 2010, things (already bad) took a major turn for the worse.

Basically, what you are saying, and I agree, is that politicians value their jobs, because the majority of control as to who gets elected is not the voter, it's the special interest, who controls the information and message the voter receives. On this issue, it is the NRA.

CD member Vector1..and others...have (from personal experience) illustrated why that was poorly constructed legislation.

...OH WAIT..Trump revoked it.
Trump signed into law a bill that reversed it....a bill that had 120 co-sponsors, including one Democrat from Minnesota.

No, we that did was prevent people like my 99 year old Grandmother from being able to get a gun, she won't be buying any guns but is fully capable of making that decision for herself. It's called due process, if you are going to take someone's rights away that decision should not be in the hands of some bureaucracy. Even the ACLU came out against this, if you want to take someone's rights away because of mental illness you can do it through the courts.

This rule was being challenged in the courts and likely would have been tossed.

Better question is why didn't George W. Bush do anything about gun control ( the Assault Weapons Ban expired during his term) when he had Congress a lot longer or when the GOP ruled for 6 out of Obama's 8 years in office?

There was never any "ban" on assault rifles, you could still go and buy one. Obviously people like you never actually read the language of the assault weapons ban, and just took the title and ran with it.

They also did not pass a minimum wage increase and a whole bunch of other things they campaign and "care" about.

His action, votes and comments clearly show he supported more gun legislation. His problem is there wasn't much he could about it.

. You need 60 in Senate to really have free reign; Dems were short of 60.
^^^^^ Wrong.

The parts of your statement above that I bolded are lies.

Once Al Franken was sworn in (July 7th, 2009), the Dems had 60 votes.

That didn't change until Scott Brown was sworn in on February 4th, 2010.

Compared to all the Soros funded orgs like Media Matters, Think Progress, ACT Blue, and all the Union special interests, NEA, UAW, AFSCME, etc that fund the Democrats the NRA is small potatoes, and doesn't even make the radar screen. The NRA's funds largely come from individuals, not corporations or gun companies.

None of the Top 10 Biggest Political Donors are Republican

Which is the funny part of people crowing from the roof tops for another one. All the AW ban did was cause firearm manufacturers to rename firearms to something legal or slightly modify them. We still bought them. A few put the serial numbers in a database.

The law itself didn't stop any crime of any type because AWs weren't being used in many crimes to begin with.
