Also -- as history has shown us -- the most diabolical leaders like to show they have power, or they can exert influence. Like North Korea's love of the grand military parade to 'show off' their power, Russia showed they can toy with the great USA & its election process.
They are laughin at the USA -- but not at the turmoil in the country -- at the fact that the USA can be toyed with. Makes the USA seem weaker -- not such a super power.

I read they wanted to sow discord. Which they did: investigations, allegations, doubt, animosity. They didn't favor one candidate or side over the other.
