It seems like the people running the Phoenix Police refuse to admit that it is likely much easier to be a police officer in Gilbert, Chandler, Fountain Hills or Surprise than Phoenix.

Chief Williams should admit that her police have to work more and for likely less money than wealthier suburbs like Gilbert and Fountain Hills.

I would venture to guess that the average police officer likely deals with more negative interactions per day in Phoenix than in one year in a rich, non-welfare class suburb like Gilbert or Fountain Hills.

Same with Houston, why would any police officer want to go from call to call when they likely have many suburbs that they can earn more money and not have to deal with all the issues brought on by the welfare state.

Hopefully, those who want to be future police officers are smart and choose rich, crime-free suburbs over welfare and poverty class big cities.

The average pay for them is in the $50,000 to $60,000 range. And it's not little work because they protect us. But let's compare it to CEO's who make millions sitting behind their desk basking in the money they make.

For one, I'm sure the same reason that some teachers choose to be in the inner city rather than the suburbs - - they are going to try to help where there is the greatest need. Plus I'm sure many cops would be bored stiff with writing tickets for people going 40 in a 25 zone in suburbia.

That is base, but city cops can get all sorts of perks for extra cash. There are a large number of cops in cities like Baltimore who are taking in huge amounts of cash ($100, 200k+). They make even more than the mayor. There are many cops at the state and city level making huge salaries almost on par with some types of physicians and it isn't just top dog cops either.

I live in a wealthy suburb where I think there's no record of a murder occurring in over 30 years. Cops are bored, yesterday they ticketed a friend parked in front of our house because they were turned the wrong direction. It pisses me off that they are so nit picky but what it does is drive away anyone that doesn't have their sh*t together (and sometimes libertarians).

That's not bad and cops do get a generous pension. I have the utmost respect for good cops (who are the majority imo)

Why would police officers bother working in a big, liberal city instead of a quiet suburb
Because each of them are able to form their own opinions for themself that you may not understand or agree with
