Schools on lockdown after student shot himself in Ohio - Story | WTXF

It was a self inflicted wound, he took a gun to school????

Unbelievable, and yet, this isn't a parenting problem, this isn't a mental illness problem.

I tell you, if we'd have taken guns to school, we'd have gotten killed. These kids fear no consequence.

Buy hey, take away the guns.

Now, what kid of gun was this? Why we should outlaw this one to...right?

A middle school student?

It's the kids, who are deficient...why? What did he plan to do with the gun in school? Think about it?

A middle school student?

If he had had to walk thru a metal detector, with an armed guard there, they would have found this gun....

Thank God he didn't shoot anyone else.

Gotta wonder if he thought he was bringing it to protect himself from being the next victim?

You do understand that every case is different right? If he shot himself, that's pretty clearly a mental health issue. Probably depression. Since it evidently just happened, it's way too early to speculate on parental responsibility in this case or really anything else. Last week with the creep in Florida, early in that ongoing thread, people were saying he was a Hispanic, maybe from Cuba, who supported AntiFa, but was also a white supremacist, a registered Democrat, but also a Trump supporter and ISIS sympathizer. Almost none of which was true.

A 7th grader who shoots himself in school is absolutely a mental health case. 12 or 13 years old - it's a tragedy.

What did he plan to do with it? Suicide, I would imagine. Thankfully, it doesn't seem like he succeeded.

The school shooting in Florida was an anomaly in that the shooter did not commit suicide. In most mass shootings, the shooter does not plan on getting out alive so I guess you're right in one way: these kids fear no consequences. But not because they're not afraid of being shot by someone else but instead because they plan on killing themselves after maximizing the horror.

True. The gun crowd is OK with that sort of thing.

It just says "self inflicted" not intentional, so you dont know that its a mental health issue. Could have been an accident if he was mishandling the weapon.

Maybe, there could be all kinds of reasons, but that isn't the issue....what did happen and the fact that he got it in school is the issue.

He shouldn't have a gun in school.

Makes you wonder how many kids carry guns to school and no one knows? Thank about that people?

With mass shooters who kill themselves, it's often the desire to control the situation and not depression that causes them to do it. The odd thing about the creep in Florida is that he evidently planned out an escape from the school, but then seemed not to know what to do then. Maybe he chickened out of a suicide by cop plan at the last minute?

Agree, just saying there are more assumptions out there than facts at this point.

Fair point. I was speculating at the same time bemoaning the folks who were speculating last week.
