The point sailed completely over your head.

In order not to put more of these weapons on the street, you don’t holler about banning them. There are millions in private ownership. You just put hundreds of thousands more in private ownership.

Liberals always shoot themselves in the foot over this pun intended.

Don't let all the grandstanding now trying to pin it on the other party fool you that THEY have the will to take action.

In fact, 2018 midterms have some huge senate races in places where being anti-gun will terminate any chance of winning. Soooooooo, there are some high political stakes like control of the Senate in play.
This is true. CNN reported yesterday that there is very little interest by the democrats to make gun control an issue in the next few months because it will kill their chances in the mid terms.

That's not nearly as much of a tragedy as all the people murdered by these weapons in mass shootings, but its still tragic.
Cradle AR-15s plural. Get it right.

Slow down princess.. it will be okay. This is just a midterm elections cry for voters to say we tried.

They have in the past, and will do so again. The only reason they didn't do it 08-10 was because they were busy getting ACA passed.

It bans lever action rifles:

Browning BLR Model 181 Lever Action, All Models
Browning Model 53 Lever Action
‘E.M.F. 1866 Yellowboy Lever Actions
E.M.F. Model 73 Lever-Action Rifle
E.M.F. Model 1873 Lever Actions
Henry .30/30 Lever Action Carbine

etc.

Read more carefully. Those models are in the section titled

‘‘APPENDIX A—FIREARMS EXEMPTED BY THE
8 ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN OF 2017

Exempted means not included. In other words, you can have your lever action rifle.

Let me repeat since it didn't penetrate the first time: The people who panic and rush in to buy more guns at times like this are OBVIOUSLY the terrified ones.

Of course the alt-right wants everyone to just shut up after school shootings, but it is clearly not going to happen. If Dems want another ban, they will being it up at times like these.

They don't do it because strict gun control is a losing issue politically in the United State. Politicians are politicians no matter which party they belong to. As close as elections have become and as divided as we are no politician is going to **** off such a solid block of voters. Period.

I am sure they will analyze how the population feels about it, and right now it looks like majority wants more gun control. Outright bans have less support.
