There are plenty of right wing hole in the wall places with needles and filth, as those places are where much of the worst opioid use in the country exists. Also, San Francisco's population density means that's more likely to occur in a smaller area rather than be spread out in rural outposts where it's not as noticeable.

I don't disagree that it's an awful problem and shameful that people who are living with more dignity are subjected to that kind of squalor and disregard for public health. Drug addicts aren't exactly the most neighborly people though, but they drag an area down whether it's in San Francisco or rural Appalachia. Unfortunately, there are too many in both.

Also, to offer some better perspective, anyone even vaguely familiar with San Francisco knows that the area that is mapped is known as the "Tenderloin" which is well known as one of the most drug infested areas in the Bay Area, and has been that way for many years. It's right next to downtown, but it's not exactly the entire downtown as the chart title infers. It still isn't a good situation for anyone to have to live around or even be around passing through, but it's not as if this has just suddenly became that way. In fact, it's one of the last areas in that city that has resisted gentrification, which isn't exactly a cheap place to afford housing:

$300k income needed to buy median SF home

LOL...ok...

Being from near Detroit and living in SF today, I can tell you with confidence that you have literally no idea what you're talking about.

I'm not sure we needed another thread on this same article. The search feature does exist here.

The homeless and drug addicted congregate wherever their needs are met.
This is a national problem not a local one.
IDK, I cant recall any other city/state spending 30 million to scoop up human feces and drug needles off streets.

I rented an apt in Santa Clara a couple years ago to oversee a new manufacturing plant and made many trips into downtown SF and its not a lovely tourism place as portrayed on TV, imo.

Exclamation SanFrancisco has more human waste and contamination in streets than Brazil, Kenya or India

Piles of feces, needles and human garbage now litter the streets in over 153 blocks of San Francisco-- Pelosi and her liberal minions must be proud -- San Francisco now has the highest poverty rate in America.

Yes, many red staters flee to California and live on our streets. I am constantly amazed that so many people would rather be homeless in paradise than be housed in Middle America.

Many Californians would appreciate if red states can fix their problems so people would actually want to live there.

Yep, it sure beats staying in Oklahoma City and trying to face winter under the overpasses. Tonight it's in the mid 20s there.

Oklahoma Republicans would far rather further raise up the already well off than help the poor and homeless. Republicans are trying to lower the income requirements to receive medical care from the state.

There are worse places to live. For instance, how would you love to live in the red state hell hole of Atoka County in Oklahoma where the average age at death is 36.

Case in point: Atoka County, Oklahoma where average age at death is 36. Life expectancy in San Francisco is 79.

Life expectancy in Atoka County, Oklahoma is 73.98 24th highest out of the 77 counties according to this chart

OKLAHOMA MALE LIFE EXPECTANCY BY COUNTY

That said how in the world do you get the average age of death is 36?
