Just made another donation to the NRA, and I am a lifetime member.

This is true. They don't give a damn what your politics are. And they certainly don't care what happens to your credit rating.

This is what its all about...what better way to change a very important part of the nations founding document, than to manipulate public opinion on the issue. More people need to look beyond the headlines to recognize what this govt is up to.

They are most certainly not concerned with our health and safety, just like when the drug laws were originally created, they had ulterior motives for doing this, that was control what parts of the city certain minorities spent time in, a law on a popular drug used by that minority was very effective. the gun control debate is the same tactic...change and/ or manipulate public opinion so it lines up with a tyrannical narrative/ agenda, all while making the public believe its being done for their safety...this is the perfect way to install tyranny without any risk of a revolution.

If this tactic had been used by England, the american revolution would have never happened, they would have just brainwashed the majority into believing a monarchy was in their best interest, anyone who disagreed with that, was a terrorist.

Manipulating public opinion is arguing that we don't have a gun problem in this country, even though every 10 days there is another massacre, and 10 days later another one, and 10 days after that another one, and on and on and on and on and on.

The NRA has been manipulating that public sentiment for decades now.

The problem is, the mounting and unending carnage is tipping the scales against that ridiculous argument. And it's about time.

They’ll use this shooting just like the dems do, exploit it for all its worth. Money talks, if a company leaves them, 2 more will take their place.

I’ve read several articles that note that gunmakers have been in a “Trump slump” due to lack of concern over gun control measures.
Remington filed for bankruptcy protection recently.

The NRA and gun manufacturers are likely gleeful over these murders and the talk of gun control.
Sales may go up but I suspect that if companies do choose to align themselves with the NRA now, they’ll do so very quietly.

Good.

The NRA has lost its way, and is now strictly a murder-mongering organization, intent on selling guns and paranoia to all. They have become a disgrace to their original mission, and now simply spew lies and support violence.

Like any other group that has sold out its principles and the people of this nation, they should suffer the consequences.

It will still be an uphill climb and it won't happen overnight because so many of the lawmakers are in the NRA's pocket, but I think with Rubio and that town hall we got a taste of the public sentiment out there. Change is inevitable when there is that much of the population behind a movement.
and when they find out what exactly the media call assault weapons, they will probably sing a different tune

You do realize all laws could be considered "infringing on people's rights" if you choose to interpret people's "rights" in a laughably loose manner, as the far-right does with their laughable stance that "everyone should be allowed to own whatever weapons they want."

That is no defense at all of what happened, and the right has to present a single argument in favor of why such weapons should be owned by private citizens, why the mentally ill should be allowed to have guns, why background checks are a bad idea, or really anything else. They've got nothing, and they know it.
