Enough with the “emotional support” dogs (gun owners, laws, stunning)

One doesn't have to hate dogs, as you obviously do, to acknowledge that an increasing number of people are jumping on the "emotional support animal" bandwagon when it appears they simply want to bring their pets where they wouldn't normally be allowed to go.
See how easy that was?
<Shrug.> I don’t hate dogs. I just like to choose when and where I socialize with them. And public places, involving complete strangers — both human and canine — are not appropriate.
These dogs have proven to be helpful to individuals and groups. The survivors of FL massacre have emotional support dogs in their area now. Hard not to smile around a dog...
Don't know what the answer is...maybe no dogs on planes.
I bring my dog everywhere;most places allow dogs. However, I do NOT bring her where only service dogs are allowed. I will not just go on amazon and buy her a vest, and/or tell people shes a bogus "emotional support" dog. What a crock.
Respect places if they don't allow pets. This is their private property. However, saying your dog is a service dog when its not is like parking in handicapped. Some people actually need bona fide and trained service dogs due to bona fide disabilities.
Those folks who just put a service dog vest on their pets are A-holes
I say more emotional support dogs, but they need to be protected from the yahoo humans that are on every flight who should be screened better before they are allowed in the pax compartment. Those with a known history of acting up can ride down below and keep an eye out for lithium batteries bursting into flames.
meanwhile...who's a good boy! YOU are! Yes you are! Good Boy!
If you need emotional support to go somewhere or do something, and you think the only option is to bring Fluffy with you - stay the hell home.
Yup, pretty much.
We adore our dog and we do bring him with us in public from time to time, but we only bring him where he's welcome...pet stores, Home Depot, etc. He's not welcome at any supermarket or restaurant around us, so we definitely won't bring him with us to those places. Why? COMMON SENSE & COMMON COURTESY!
Both DH and I are nervous flyers, but we wouldn't dream of putting our slightly high-strung small dog in a stressful situation like navigating an airport, waiting around with tons of people, getting onto a noisy and cramped aircraft full of strange smells, etc. It's inconsiderate to the other passengers and pretty mean to our dog who'd be going out of his poor little mind. We leave him with trusted family or friends instead, where he'll be safe and we don't have to worry about him.
We just take Xanax or a stiff drink instead. Much easier.

You're a thoughtful, considerate person - so I'm not surprised.
I'm in a part of the country that's similar to where you are in TX - not many places around me allow dogs beyond those you've mentioned - unless it's a service animal. It seems some parts of the country are more relaxed about it.
I know people who won't even bring their dog to the dog park because aggressive people are such asses about their aggressive dogs. Zero self-awareness.
