https://nypost.com/2018/02/23/four-s...hool-shooting/

"Not one but four sheriff’s deputies hid behind cars instead of storming Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS in Parkland, Fla., during Wednesday’s school shooting, police claimed Friday —"

And I don't blame them.

This was a once in a lifetime event for these guys. By its nature, it always will be.

5 year old training, a couple of annual refreshers are worthless it confronting something like this. Only combat soldiers would charge an concealed enemy in a fortified position.

Anyone who would rely on deputies, "resource" officers (whatever they are), or least of all teachers is deceiving himself. No one should rely on these people to confront armed killers with any degree of confidence.

Hoping that sheriffs and teachers can protect kids from mass murder is inviting more of it.

This is highly disturbing.

These men agreed to put themselves at risk for the public and they couldn't when they needed to.

But we think there will be folks who WANT to teach, CAN teach and who CAN and WILL accept the risk of being the one to save the kids with a gun.

I think we deal with fantasy visions (on both sides) of what will happen.

If we arm everyone -- less people get hurt and the world is saved (nothing addressing the very real risk and probabililty of friendly fire casualties -- google stats on that for military and police who are 'trained')

If we take everyone's guns away -- nobody will have guns and the world is saved. (nothing addressing the need to protect ourselves from the bad guys with the guns).

There has to be somewhere in between.

Massive gov. failure.

Unarmed teachers did more to protect the students than armed law enforcement.

We have to admit that these men don't represent most of those folks in law enforcement.

To suggest these four failed is indicative of all 'govt.' law enforcement is not rational or fair at all.

Not gov. failure. It's human failure.

Its not just children being killed. Its teachers also.
There may be some that are motivated to save their own lives by being armed and trained.

The old "if we arm everyone" argument is as out of place and thoughtless as doing nothing.

The same Sheriff who hires deputies who won't save children says only the police should have guns.

Quit blaming everything on the government, and try some personal responsibility and accountability for once in your life.

And these are the folks we're supposed to entrust to administer "common sense gun laws" that always seem to come down to some gun ban or another and then keep us safe afterward. Yeah sorry, I think I'll keep mine and continue to be my own first line of defense, thankyouverymuch.

Yeah right, HE was the one responsible for the government's multiple failures that cost 14 kids and 3 of their teachers their lives, NOT the government agencies that missed 40-some opportunities to either get this crackpot on the no-buy list, or stop him in the planning stages when told of his plans, or stop him when he was actually carrying out that plan.

Do you have a mental deficiency of some type?
