“We believe in absolutely gun-free, zero-tolerance, totally safe schools. That means no guns in America’s schools. Period.”
— NRA President Wayne LaPierre, on C-SPAN in 1999.

What are you babbling about? There is the Unorganized Militia comprised of all able bodied men 18 - 47. Then there is the Organized Militia which became the National Guard, and part of our Federal, standing Army.

Does "unorganized" meet the Constitutional definition of "well regulated"?

No means of travel were relevant in the Constitution's Bill of Rights. That includes seaworthy ships which could travel up and down the east coast. No mention whatsoever.

Repealing the second amendment would be like closing the barn door after the horse has escaped.

Why do I need to be a conservative or liberal to vote in this thread?

The second amendment should be kept. However all the feds need is to declare a state of emergency and they can take your weapons.
Don't think so? Katrina - police went door to door trying to confiscate weapons but were unable to because of no warrant. They brought the national guard in and under a state of emergency they can legally enter a home and confiscate weapons and they did just that.

There is a big push to ban weapons and the real reason is not school shootings.

Could it be that times change which calls for further amendments and changes to laws and policy? We also did not have a standing National Guard when the founders called for "A well regulated militia".
So you are to the right of Anthony Scalia, must be lonely at your meetings.

There have been many interpretations of the second amendment, you can make a case either way.
I think it would be best to allow people to keep their guns (as if that was ever in question) but to remove the second amendment and treat guns like everything else.

If the interpretation of the 2nd and it’s “well regulated militia” is that anybody, anywhere at anytime can have as many types and amounts of guns as anyone would ever want then yes, it should be repealed.
