My nieces and nephews (ages 11 - 25) have no problem with guns, and the older ones don't want to see any new laws. My Seattle-area sister-in-law is no longer anti-gun after marrying my brother. Even my strongly anti-gun brother-in-law and his family have softened since they moved to Texas for a new job. Kind of funny to see. They were the ones who freaked out when we gave their son a Nerf gun for his birthday; now they're all out shooting skeet. I'm sure they're not ready to embrace the AR-15, but they've lost the desire to see all guns disappear like they used to.
So... be "liberal on gun control" means to favor more control and restriction of guns? Has "liberal" come to mean the exact opposite of what it did originally?
