I would call your statement "ideology". Society gives everyone basically the same thing; a recipe for success. Those that fail/refused to implement should not be gifted by those that did. This is, of course, a broad generalization leaving plenty of situations where help is warranted. I speak mainly of the "welfare class" , those capable but unwilling.

I have a question for those who would prefer a socialist government - would it not behoove you to seek out a country where socialism is already practiced, and set up camp there? Instead of trying to push the US into socialism?

I for one am not in the top or bottom 1%, but like many, I will never reap the benefits of most of the social services my tax dollars are being used for. To me, it's like robbing Peter to pay Paul.

There is the old cliche of something akin to the only thing you can count on in this life is taxes and death. Now, it seems, taxes could literally cause your 'death'.

Here is an interesting note:

"And in New York, state Senate Republicans are opposing a plan to generate $1.9 billion by closing corporate tax loopholes."

I guess it's more important for people to have jobs so "gubmint" can tax those folks....

Horse hockey

It is a penalty for making money. You can try to spin it any way you wish - but, if you want to increase taxes solely for the reason that someone makes more money - it is a penalty. And, it is the lefts way of redistribution of wealth.

And, don't give me this "paying back society" crap. Thats Bull.

I can sit right here, at my computer, at my home, and probably make more in a day than you do in a year. I am using no extra resources from "society".

Admit it Roseba - you favor redistribution of wealth. Be honest

Hey Greatday, I'd love to know the secret to making that much money. You can distribute some of your wealth to me (Just kidding, too many people take things way too seriously on here)

LOL - don't worry - I'm not one to take things too seriously. Life is good - people need to lighten up a bit IMHO - get out - have fun - smell the roses.

I don't know if I'm wise sticking my nose into this discussion, but I find it interesting that the tax structure in the US is very similar to ours in Canada where we do have more social programs, including universal health care. Though Canada apparently has a reputation of taxing it's citizens at a much higher rate than the US, looking at the tax schedules for each country makes me wonder.

Of course we also have to pay provincial tax, Which brings it up there depending on where you live.
