Those who want to know (or care) how many were gassed compared to how many were starved and shot in the head (one bullet...they didn't think Jews were worth it, so that's why one reason they turned to gas).....could read plenty of books.
No one is denying that the 6 million perished from a vast number of causes. Sometimes they'd put a couple hundred in a big barn and burn it. In all honesty, being gassed was preferable to working on the rockets in a cave where most every worked died (disease, starvation) after months of pain.
And no one doubts that Jews were a minority of those killed in WWII - simply because there are so few of them. But - the fact that 1/2 of the Jews on the planet were murdered is a big %.
Anyway, that's not even the thread topic. Believe me, nothing short of a nuke would have stopped the German War Machine. They were not only trained well, but they came from generations of war mongers. The Jews, instead, were busy educating themselves and their children, starting and running businesses and creating art and culture.
History also records that when people rose up against the Germans, they took out 10 to 1 or even 100 to 1 just for that occurrence. So in a village or even some prison camps, if anyone fought back and killed one German, they would line dozens of innocents (who might have survived the war) against a wall and shoot them. And Eye for an Eye and soon everyone is blind.
In short, the complete opposite of what the OP claims is true. Armed direct resistance would have probably made it so a LOT more people were killed. It was only slightly effective later in the war when the Germans were tapped out and the partisans were - by the 1000's - doing sabotage, etc.
There is NO lesson to be learned from this which relates to gun culture in the USA. But there are plenty of innocent dead bodies here which are lessons due to gun culture. You can't cover that up.
I still think it would have been worth it if the Jews and others could have killed some of the Nazis. Better that than being totally unable to retaliate.
Are you reading the thread? They killed plenty of Nazis as partisan resistance in the forests of eastern Europe - let alone some in the Ghettos when they were being exterminated. But whether they killed 100, 1,000 or 10,000 wouldn't have made the slightest difference. MILLIONS of people died just during the Russian offensive. The Germans lost a couple hundred thousands...and many more because most prisoners eventually died in the Gulags of the USSR, etc.
WWII was not entertainment where they kept score of how many Germans the Jews killed. Lots of American Jews, including my FIL, were over there killing Nazis. They were well trained, of a certain age, armed and backed by the might of the USA - and so they were effective. The idea of dudes in rags with single shot rifles mowing down SS divisions is a sad joke.
It's as if people expect Bubby (Name for Russian or Yiddish Grandmothers) to wield a Sten and mow down advancing Panzer divisions. BTW, Women (Jews Included) were in the Russian Military and killed plenty of people.

When I see the faces of angry white dudes from 50-70, I get scared. Much more than seeing or working with Muslims.
My guess is that Jews in the USA are lesser "gun nuts" than others. Maybe we should all arm up so when the American Civil War II starts we can defend ourselves.

They would probably think that is a unreasonable assertion to equate Nazi propaganda run by the Government to a private corporation where freedom of the press rules.

The Einsatzgruppen killed about 1 million Jews, mostly in occupied Soviet territory, by the simple expedient of shooting them. The dedicated extermination camps accounted for about 3 million victims. And about 2 million perished due to starvation in ghettos, or in the camps due to disease and slave labor on rations that couldn't sustain a human.
First thing a despot does is disarm the people so they cannot fight back.
For this reason, our founders wrote the second amendment not for hunting or home protection, but rather GOVERNMENT TYRANNY, as the last line of defense in a democracy. Few seem to get that. The second amendment is NOT obsolete.
For the reason of defense of liberty, we need regular people well armed, the danger associated thereof must be tolerated, regardless of the (sometimes tragic) effect on short-term safety. Ben Franklin & James Madison spoke eloquently of this matter.

This. Those interested can look up the fate of the villages of Oradour-sur-Glane and Lidice, to name two.

As is most often the case with irregular forces, they were effective in intelligence gathering or destroying hard-to-guard infrastructure (rail lines, telephone lines etc.)
