Guns in the world are likes nukes in the world. More risk than benefit and we would be better off without them. You can either grow some courage and go without or you can be a coward clinging to a gun like a security blanket. Yeah happy utopia rainbows and unicorns and all that.
Gotcha. Inanimate pieces of metal are too much of a "risk" to keep safe , even though hundreds of millions of people have throughout decades upon decades, and anyone who has ever used or owned one is a coward?
I'll keep that in mind when I need to win over ranchers, military members and veterans, hunters, and police officers, among millions of others law abiding US citizens. Thanks for information.

You don’t need to win over them. You simply need to get the people riding the fence to be more active. Certain gun owners such as ranchers sure it is a tool. However others who need to have them to protect themselves from the feds or breaking are addicted to their own fear and the need to feel safe and powerful. These things do not need to be manufactured.
Nukes are inanimate objects. Why should we care if North Korea gets them?
I was 17 years old working in the kitchen of a restaurant. Two men came through the back door robbing the store. With a gun at my head I so scared almost to the point of being frozen. Does that make me a coward?, I'd say no just a instinct reaction without time to process. But they wanted the money, not to hurt us.
Once a car flipped in front of me and caught fire. Without thinking I pulled the man from the burning car. Does that make me a hero?, I don't think so I just did what needed to be done knowing he didn't have time for rescue to arrive.
These two events are true, really happened to me.
The point is I think we all have the capability to be a frozen coward or a reactionary hero. Regarding these crazies that shoot up people with intent to kill until we can solve the problem with society that these people carry out on these thoughts the fact is the only defense and best survival instinct that needs to be instilled is to fight back. If you realize that there is no negotiating with them, that duck and hiding behind a desk won't help, the best chance is to fight back and limit the damage.
People need to fight back against these murderers
I've never picked up a gun nor had the desire to, however if the time comes for me to pick up some metal, I certainly hope I would go all Gloria on these punks. And I look fabulous in heels!

I thought they were all cowards?
You don't know much about radiation and nuclear physics if you think nukes are simply inanimate, not to mention the sensitivity of any explosive or explosive device.
I don't know why people think that because they have a gun, they will be able to take down the bad guy. It seems that people who have never been involved in shooter situations have this Rambo fantasy that they will be calm and cool enough to disable a active shooter.
You don't know how you will react to the situation until you are in that situation with adrenaline coursing through your veins. Do you really think that you will be able to bring down a shooter before he is able to get off a shot if you have to pull your weapon out of somewhere on your body?
Gonna reactivate this thread because Mr Shaw at the waffle house shooting proves me right. If you don't have a gun to fight back with and can't run best to charge the gunman, you may loose but it will give you and others a better chance
What makes you think these people have a Rambo fantasy? The media? Your personal knowledge of all these people? Quite frankly that is nothing more than your "opinion" based on what very limited experience of knowledge you likely may have (television doesn't count). Fact is, in some cases they may be successful and in others they may not! With the proper concealed carry method you can have access to your gun in a very, very short time. My neighbor is retired law enforcement and carries concealed. He also practices on a regular basis and can pull the gun in the blink of an eye. Given his background I'd bet on him most of the time and there are plenty more like him!
The burning car, you are in control of the situation for yourself. The gun, you are not in control of the situation for yourself; big difference.
