Good for Delta in getting rid of discounts for divisive groups.

Quote:
“While Delta’s intent was to remain neutral, some elected officials in Georgia tied our decision to a pending jet fuel tax exemption, threatening to eliminate it unless we reversed course,” Bastian wrote. “Our decision was not made for economic gain and our values are not for sale.”

The CEO noted that Delta is also in the process of ending discounts “for any group of a politically divisive nature.”

Of course you do! Know why? Obama and the DOJ were experts at extortion. But it was Obama, so that was okay. Right?

Oddly enough, CNN reports that a grand total of 13 people flew on Delta using that NRA discount.

Delta says only 13 people used its NRA discount - Mar. 2, 2018

I will repeat. No, this is not what anyone is stating.

It is not about corporate welfare. It is about a fascist state government telling a private company what their policies have to be.

Why is this comment so very difficult to comprehend?
Your comment. You just declared the State of Georgia to be run by fascists. Same types that ran Nazi Germany. This speaks to your knowledge and comprehension of the situation.

As to the rest of what you said, Delta is not a "private" company as long as it takes money from the taxpayers. That money always comes with strings attached. Let them walk away from that money and there is absolutely no issue at all.

It's as simple as that.

Basically, Bastian's words were carefully chosen, IMO. He specifically stated "our home is ATLANTA". He didn't say Georgia except when discussing some elected officials.

I knew it!

The Georgia state legislature should be embarrassed! None of those goobers even used the stupid discount, and they took millions away from this company over it.

It's comical how dumb those Republicans are.

So the Georgia legislature is willing to withhold $40M because of 13 discount tickets, talk about an over reaction.

Default Georgia GOP Just Killed Any Chance of Amazon's HQ2

The GA GOP's kneejerk reaction to Delta's decision to stop NRA discounts has likely killed any chance of it remaining on Amazon's short list for it's second headquarters.

If the city of Atlanta still has a chance of winning the Amazon HQ2 sweepstakes over 19 other finalist metro areas, Georgia lawmakers are doing everything in their power to prevent it from happening. The latest was the decision on Thursday by Georgia lawmakers to pull a tax break for Delta Air Lines, which calls Atlanta home, after Delta was among the first major corporations to end discounts for NRA members.
