Homelessness in L.A.: A national disgrace that must be fixed

https://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...ff7_story.html

https://nypost.com/2018/03/03/averag...der-de-blasio/

Why don't they just admit that for every 100 people they house in supportive housing units that there will be thousands more homeless filling their place.

They can try to arrest the homeless but the truth is with skyrocketing violent crime rates in the last several years that the jails in many cities are always infringing on inmates constitutional rights with the rampant overcrowding.

There is no solution to homelessness, no matter how much they spend. Many of these cities have no chance to improve the situation.

The honest truth is no matter how much Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver and Washington DC spend on homelessness that it will just continue to get much worse.

Many big cities these days are basically a toilet full of infectious disease, with rampant mental illness on display.

Seems like single-room occupancy solutions are out. Private landlords require 3 to 4 times monthly gross wages usually plus high credit scores and usually a flawless background check. Unrelated adults renting homes to save money in many cases is banned by NIMBY's for no reason.

In general there is a perfect storm brewing for massive amounts of homelessness, disease and mental health issues on display in America's cities.

They just need to steal a little more from "the rich". Then all the problems will be solved.

If Reagan didn't close all the mental institutions then these people would have somewhere to go...but they don't

A lot of the problems is because the homeless know they can do whatever they want in these liberal cities .
So many liberal elite homeless advocates that don’t want the homeless to suffer any consequences for their actions but they live in gated communities or places that don’t even have sidewalks.

We need law and order . The homeless have taken over the parks sidewalks libraries etc in L.A and I know it’s bad in SF and other liberal cities too .

Funny you don’t hear much about homeless in San Antonio or Houston . Hmm wonder why ?
It’s because they don’t put up with that nonsense .

I remember going to Savannah GA and they had signs to call 911 if someone was bothering you panhandling.. you don’t see that in L.A

All the homeless advocates keep saying we can’t keep the homeless there against their will though.
There are social workers that try to help them and most want to stay on streets .
I don’t think they should have a choice .

Especially the ones that are obviously insane and dangerous .. it’s a public safety issue .

So, what is the solution?

The OP posits that it is only going to get worse.
Why?
What factors will drive this surge?

Despite the finger-pointing title, it is generally the Democrats who try to address the root causes and offer solutions.

OP - are you suggesting that homelessness is yet another outcome of the GOP “wave” that should just be accepted?

Or what?

Why dont liberal Democrats just admit the homeless situation is going to get much worse and nothing can be done about it?

A better question would be why do republicans too often say a situation is going to get much worse but nothing can be done about it? How sad. Liberals are about trying to solve problems. Maybe not everything is going to work out the way we want and then we have to face the ridicule of republicans, but at least democrats recognize the problems and seek solutions. They are making the effort. Republics make fun of democrats for even trying.

I love the simplicity of the theory that all the problems in the USA are because of liberals and all the good things are because of conservatives.

LOL.

I mean how can you argue with that -- lol.....

So you think homelessness is limited to big cities? Think again.
