Well, it's tough when a company sets diversity standards to sometimes find enough racial minority workers who are qualified for the jobs.

Apparently, according to a complaint filed by a former white worker, UTube placed a temporary freeze on hiring males that are white and asian to get more racial and gender diversity into their work force.

But UTube management plans to 'vigorously defend' their company in the lawsuit.

In private business such as this, if there aren't enough females and racial minorities that the company wants to have in its ranks, what else can they do to achieve their goals but a temporary freeze?

In itself, their goal is admirable, and quite likely good for the company, as the more diversity they have, the better it is for their production globally. There are other solutions, like offering scholarships and the like to minorities, but that won't fill the ranks very quickly. And if they are intent on making their outfit more diverse, then someone is always going to lose out to someone else for a while until it all stabilizes.

The law makes no distinction, EEOC rules state you cannot have hiring practices that discriminate against race, national origin, religion, disability status, age, gender etc.

By EEOC rules it's just as discriminatory to reject candidates who are white male and able, as black, female and disabled.

So yes white and asian guys are a protected class. Which seems to surprise the hell out of white guys in particular.

Federal government hiring practices are also discriminatory against white men. Affirmative Action & the quota system for hiring need to be done away with.

I will say that if minorities can sue for discriminatory hiring practices any white man not hired by Youtube should have the same ability to sue. But good luck finding a lawyer that will even take the case unless you throw a lot of money at them. They know judges will deny the lawsuit because a white man is the plaintiff.
