The uber-lib spouse and her friends used to have Oscar parties...but that stopped a couple years ago. The Oscars have gotten so self-righteous that no one needs it anymore. There's no comparison between Billy Crystal's happy shenanigans over a morose and sanctimonious Jimmy Kimmel. Millenials don't watch the Oscars and Hollywood is driving away the rest of us.
HAHAHA! No one is more obsessed with the Oscar's than conservatives as evidenced by the OP of this thead.

That's three obsessions I can think of off the top of my head and in this order:

1. Hillary
2. California
3. Hollywood

yup the conservatives seem to live and breath to see what celebrities say.

Maybe that's the difference between liberals and conservatives....liberals are able to draw the line between 'entertainment' and real life and conservatives can't.

Lefty rants disguised as humor is unhealthy therapy. They need professional help.

Because rants with no humor are so productive and healthy.

Will Kimmel dare to call out all hypocrites who kept their mouth shut about Harvey, Spacey and many others?

I will see and hear the next day as we are going to enjoy a different evening!

We used to be watching the red carpet and watching what are the stars wearing. Right now I don't see them anymore as stars but political propaganda activists that soon will be replaced by silent computer images!

So, Jimmy's gonna do a Donny impression tonight?

Oscars will have the lowest viewers and most bashing in the history of the Oscars.

Maybe not.

Eventually the people who run the thing (that is, the people practical enough to be trusted running a multi-million dollar show) will realize the fanatics are simply cutting the show's throat with all their political rants, and will slip them the word to knock it off. And actors will start wondering next year why they were not nominated for anything, and wonder if it had anything to do with regurgitating standard trumphating talking points in 2018.

The need to rant daily suggests an underlying mental health issue.

Yes I plan to watch. I love Kimmel--he's hilarious. And he might actually make jokes about politics, so it is totally understandable why sensitive snowflakes would not watch, but prefer to bash it from their safe space.

It's a television program. Puzzling that that the right is so freaked out by actors having opinions, while at the same time proclaiming how insignificant they are.

Whoops, they caught me. Time for me to back off in a hurry and pretend Hollywood's unfounded criticisms are merely "entertainment".
