Yet another LIC hotel will be housing homeless families this March, with priority for Queens residents - QNS.com

I guess that they have decided to upgrade from Best Westerns to Fairfield Inn by Marriott.

It looks like the going rate is $123-$129 on the website plus of course taxes if one is just looking to visit New York City.

I wonder if the new way to gain extra votes for the liberals is to house them at luxury hotels.

No handouts are too generous when the tax payers are footing the bill.

When there's children involved the rules change, however I suspect building more social housing might be cheaper in the long run than housing people in hotels.

This is really nothing new. Hotels have been doing this for families for a long time.

On another thread you criticize LA for the amount of homeless people living in places not designed for human habitation and here you are critizing NYC for sheltering homeless.

The Fairfield brand offers basic, low cost economy level hotel rooms. It's the sort of place typically booked by economy bus tours and groups. Typically the properties are individually- owned and choose to buy into the Fairfield management/ marketing program for a fee.

The Blissville section of Queens is not exactly the crown jewel of NYC. Nonetheless, there is no shortage of community NIMBY going on as there is most everywhere.

I guess you have a problem with Palm Beach County ( home of Mar-a-Lago) housing families in motel/ hotel rooms, too.

If the government is going to subsidize housing it should do it for everyone.

This isn’t for Home subsidy, this is for being homeless. Two different things entirely

Taking revenues at the barrel of a gun, to pay for thinks they would never agree to.

Check them for bed bugs and lice first. I'd hate to have the room afterward.

But government is to treat every individual equally. No one is to be special.

Government will never ever make everyone equal. It is not possible with individuals.
