If Saccone loses the race it will be in part because he alienated labor voters by supporting policies designed to shrink union membership.
Democrats sunk a lot of money into PA.
"This isn't about Trump, it's about him," said Rep. Mike Doyle, the labor-backed Democrat who represents an adjacent district based in Pittsburgh. "I've never seen the unions as mobilized as they are right now."
Please don't kid yourself, this was as much about Trump as it was Saccone.

I agree with you; however, I'll add the following:
-with the Trump brand as toxic as it is and his approval rating so low (nationwide), it has become increasingly difficult for the GOP to recruit good candidates. The opposite is true for the Democrats...tons and tons of people coming out of the grassroots that want to run.
All of the above only makes the Democrats chances better in the fall.
And yes, Lamb was a good candidate: decent looking, military service, kind of boring and most of all decent and normal. Saccone was a lifelong politician and proud to be "trump before there was trump" which is where your point comes in. Very hard to see this district going to the Dems if it was a President Romney.
Meanwhile in the real world, Republicans lost a Senate race in Alabama.
and in the real world, people see that the Alabama repubs ran a poor candidate, and the dems won with a MODERATE candidate..... just like the potus election, the libs ran a poor candidate and she lost

and in the real world, any district that Trump won 58%-38% should have been winnable by any Republican.
And in the real world that everyone lives in, when the dems get back the 1200+ seats they lost during the obama years....get back with us...
But, but, but Obama...
