Wonderful.

If rail were cost effective you would have private companies lining up to build it.

Another in a long list of scams perpetrated on the California public.

High speed rail has been bilking the California taxpayers since 2008, and we still don’t have a train

This thing is probably the biggest boondoggle to ever hit this state.

People running things here are just out of their minds and beyond corrupt.

If they could have actually built a high-speed rail line from Los Angeles to San Francisco for $30-some billion, it might not have been so bad. But apparently, they can't even build one along the nice and flat land between Bakersfield and Fresno for less than $90 billion -- and counting.

They still have not nailed down an exact route into Los Angeles...

You can buy a 1 way ticket from LAX to SFO for $39.

HSR will cost much more (by law) and take longer.

It's funny to watch Brightline work on a train line from Vegas to LA area and move along much quicker and cheaper! LOL

Exactly.

The Central Valley is flat and empty farmland (relatively empty). It's the cheapest area to construct HSR and yet, there are massive cost overruns. This segment is literally the train to and from nowhere.

I can't believe that CAHSR didn't decide to work on a segment from SF outbound first. Californians are going to lose their minds when this first segment opens up and nobody rides it.

Right, but you know what comes next; once the boondoggle bullet train is up and running, California Democrats will try to follow in the footsteps of some of the countries in Western Europe that have banned airline routes that are (relatively) short hops, because Climate Change™.

So, I’m sure at some point they will try to outlaw flights between LA and San Francisco.
