Grocery shopping at Wal-Mart the other day and saw a young Hispanic girl walking around with boxes of cell phones asking shoppers if they wanted a free cell phone. She said anyone on food stamps qualifies. It's a brand called Assurance.
To get service, they must go to a provider like Safelink and prove that they qualify. Otherwise the phone is no good. They don't have a sim card setup.
There are still side of the road vendors around advertising free Obama phones.
And there again, they must prove that they qualify to get free airtime, and it is very limited minutes. I think they get 60 minutes a month. And they are limited to one phone per address and it is cross checked.
If you have home internet access you can use certain google apps to get free home phone service. All you need is a cheap $30 prepaid phone.. just don't activate it, turn off the cellular signal and turn on the wifi. Unlimited minutes, texts, and of course data assuming you have a home network. You can use it anywhere you can get a stable wi-fi signal though. Who knows how long google will keep offering it free.
Dockside, I am proud of you ! You actually stood up for Obama !
Ok, now I guess I have to say something nice about Trump, and I will.
