I've not had to wait more than a few days for anything from Amazon. But then I didn't order this book either.

That B&N didn't have copies of what was sure to be a widely popular book is somewhat of a surprise. Were they just unexpectedly sold out of stock?

Trump has the unfortunate luck to be at the helm when retail is going through the change.

Stores are closing at a record pace.

"As stores close around the country, one symptom of the retail apocalypse has been overlooked. While many brands announce their store closures in earnings calls and press releases, others are quietly pulling back their footprint and letting store leases expire."

Dying malls lead to quiet store closures - Business Insider

While some malls continue to thrive, a lot are little more than echoing halls of empty storefronts. Retail space is being rented to churches, giant consignment sales, outlets for dented appliance, ...

We may be at a tipping point where some home improvement, furniture, grocery, and drug stores may hold out, but most other retail stores will be consolidated or eliminated.

As much as people want to believe that these employees will find jobs in other fields, this appears to be a pipe dream for many.

I've not read of any Trump plans for dealing with this. Does he have one? Or is he leaving this to be be solved by the next person occupying the oval office?

No - we can just have an exorcism performed.

Also toss out all linens, get rid of and replace the contemporary reproduction ones and steam clean the antique draperies and rugs, seal the place and decontaminate it, get rid of bedbugs and Russian bugs, scrape the paint and wallpaper down to the wood and plaster, replace both, call in an art specialist to deal with the oil paintings and sculptures, freeze-dry the never-opened, never-moved books, and burn some sage to take care of any residual demons.

Federal deficits ignored.

Were we to be attacked now, we would be VERY vulnerable with no leadership in place.

So, those are the things we know. What havoc the dotard has wreaked below the surface and in private will be exposed for years to come once this nightmare is over. Lord only knows what promises he has made; what behaviors he has pursued under that threat of exposure by Russia; and what stories from aids, servants and underlings will be told about in-private behaviors which one can only imagine.

Only the most ignorant of the ignorant will ever admit they supported him in Washington. As for the deplorables? who knows. Anything is possible as they have swallowed his whole shtick hook, line and sinker. Especially the sinker.

Truer words were never spoken. ^^^^

And, by extension, you can say the same thing about conservatives, a lot of Trump supporters are neo-fascists, the kind of people who openly despise people of color and want to roll back equal rights for women and the civil liberties that we all can enjoy (currently)

The greatest threat lies within, when you get someone dangerously stupid and reckless like Trump, someone who only cares for himself, and then surround him with millions of ignorant, racist, and fascist supporters, you have a direct threat to the Constitution living right here, citizens of this country. Then team them up with a foreign government like Russia and you have the threat we currently are facing in America.

I'm not banking on democracy surviving in its present form, as there are simply too many Americans working to undermine it.

Thanks for the tip - this is an excellent, disconcerting article. Highly recommended.

One of my parents was a career USDA employee...

It would be symbolically valuable to regard the White House as contaminated and taken down. A new presidential building should be built and a clean re-start initiated.
