President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, John Dowd, told The Daily Beast on Saturday morning that he hopes Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will shut down the Mueller probe.
Quote:
“I pray that Acting Attorney General Rosenstein will follow the brilliant and courageous example of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russia Collusion investigation manufactured by McCabe’s boss James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt Dossier,” Dowd then wrote.

He told The Daily Beast he was speaking on behalf of the president, in his capacity as the president’s attorney.
John Dowd is correct and in fact Mueller was never qualified for the job by his own involvement. He may end up a witness and that's a conflict of interest. Whatever creditability he had was lost when he accepted the job as a political hitman to lead a witch hunt with no crime to investigate.

"Former federal prosecutor Patrick Cotter said Dowd's statement Saturday could be "an "unintentional 'tell' that the Mueller investigation is getting close to sensitive evidence of a crime."
"If I were Mueller I would be encouraged by the statement," Cotter said. "Targets always squeal louder when the investigators get closer to the truth."
Matthew Miller, a former spokesman for the Department of Justice under former President Barack Obama, tweeted, "Here it is, the point all of the attacks on law enforcement by Trump, Nunes, Fox News and the rest have been inevitably building to. Red alert time."
Dowd reportedly tweeted a quote from Tennessee Williams "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof":
"What's that smell in this room[Bureau}? Didn't you notice it, Brick [Jim]? Didn't you notice a powerful and obnoxious odor of mendacity in this room[Bureau}?... There ain't nothin' more powerful than the odor of mendacity[corruption]... You can smell it. It smells like death.” Tennessee Williams — ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."
The height of irony being that Trump is the one so far constantly cited as the chronic, pathological liar and con-artist. Far and away above even his sycophants. (Though those who support him emulate him.) The smell of mendacity and corruption does hover over him like a powerful, obnoxious, deathly pall. He is dancing around on that Tin Roof which appears to be getting hotter and hotter before it catches fire under him. He can't allow Mueller to let that happen. Watch the pathology and corruption escalate in Trump's effort to save his bacon. Things are looking Stormy on all fronts for the sociopathic figurehead.

wow, I thought they got something on Trump <sarcasm>
According to Trump and his lawyer, there's nothing there to get. Which, of course, begs the question of why they want the investigation shut down. If there's nothing to find, Mueller will declare Trump innocent and everything will return to normal.
Trump is guilty, of course they want the investigation shut down.
