Are we dismissing the original crime of coming here illegally?... For some of them multiple times. Or are we just talking about the crimes they may or may not commit once they have illegally entered the US?

No, but that's not up to the city.

A "sanctuary city" is not some law breaking city. They are actually following the letter of the law as immigration is enforced by the feds. It is not up to the city government to spend resources to enforce it.

That recent example of the city warning of an ICE raid though and actively denying requests for information from the feds on individuals is another story.

But just calling out a sanctuary city for following the law is fed overreach. Something no conservative should support.

You will see more and more of that behavior from sanctuary cities as we go forward. It will turn from a "hands off" approach to full obstruction of justice. The left is not happy and will use whatever tactic they deem necessary to meet their goals. They know full well what needs to happen to stay relevant in future elections.

Maybe, but that's another issue.

These cities actually call themselves Sanctuary Cities. If it means nothing then why say it?

Because others are going above and beyond the law and doing the fed’s job. Paper’s please! Do you want to carry around proof of citizenship and be questioned for it? Passport/birth certificate in addition to drivers license?
