I believe that the import, sale and in-public possession of semi automatic weapons (including handguns) should be outlawed and that we should endeavor to remove those currently in circulation. Yes, that would include me as I have a couple Glocks. A few have spoiled it for the many as happens in so many other areas. It's unfortunate, but this is just the way it is.

Okay, I think I understand your point, but a key difference is that if someone dies because s/he texted, that is on her or him alone -- which is very different from someone shooting you and especially if was just part of a random shooting.
But to be clear, I think all the deaths due to texting are absolutely horrible, too!
Wow. No. Those who text while driving kill others, too, not just themselves. It even kills those who just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, at random, such as oncoming traffic into which a texting driver plows, head on.

I disagree, i feel it puts things in perspective. Even more, 11 deaths yearly out of 23 million children.

I was wondering about that. In my experience, it's not just the young. People looking at and using their phones (texting and whatever) is the most dangerous thing I come across every day. All the time.

But more kids die from bike accidents each year than from guns at school. Do you feel we should restrict bicycle sales?

Since banning and criminalizing one's lawful possessions and activities because of the actions of another is indeed a form of punishment. Then by your way of thinking:
