In his inaugural address he promised to end American Carnage.

We can't get violent crime to zero, but what specifically has he done in the more than a year he has been in office for this aim?

I might be out of the loop, but I can't think of one thing.

What can he do? All he can do is make it a priority for the DoJ and that's not even 100%

Well he has tried to slow travel from the 7 countries that Obama deemed centers of terrorism and danger but that was struck down multiple times.
He has tried to build a wall that would slow or stop potentially dangerous people from crossing and dragging in the drugs to distribute in America.
He has suggested that the age should be raised to 21 for gun purchases but that didn't get very far.

Trump has increased security along the border and he has given more authority to our soldiers in the Middle East which has changed the rules of engagement. We don't hear much about isis now a days.

Trump has some good ideas but there are always those that would block them. The other day in NH he proposed that the death penalty should be applied to hard core drug dealers. It sounds like a good idea because a dealer does kill people with the drugs he pushes but there will no doubt be major push back over this plan.

Trump has some good ideas but I think in implementing them he was a bit naive about the power of the Presidency to get things changed.

What he has done is to come up with his 2020 campaign slogan -- Keep America Great!

So, he obviously thinks he has already fixed everything and can now spend his time campaigning for the next election.

If Obama had started his re-election campaign in March of 2010--the right wing would have screamed their heads off about it. Had Obama gone to New Hampshire on a pretense so he could actually campaign, while sending his daughter to Iowa, poor Fox News would have gone off the deep end.

Get real.

Yammering on about the border wall or terrorists from other countries is ridiculous nonsense. Trump just carries on about this to rile up his base. Got nothing to do with safety.

None of the carnage over the last year has been the result of lack of a border wall or terrorists from other countries.

We have a model example of a city that has drastically reduced its crime rate over the last few decades: New York City. Last year, it had its lowest homicide rate since the 1950s. Other cities should learn from New York and implement policies that help reduce gang-related violent crime.

There may not be any need to reinvent the wheel.

Trump is a liar and has promised a lot of things. Notice how things changed with the wall? Who’s going to pay for it now? Hint: not Mexico.....

The pretext of his "carnage" comments was directed at illegal immigration.

This is hard for people to understand, but people who spent money and risked their lives to sneak into this country are less likely than the average citizen to commit acts of crime. They could have stayed in their country to rob and kill if that was how they were going to operate.

Also, cue the reply "but they committed an act of crime by coming here" - being in the US illegally amounts is a civil offense, like jaywalking. You can think it's a criminal act. Or you can suppose it should be a criminal act. But legally, it's not.

March? He started in January. Of 2017.

He has helped out in Chicago on the prosecution end.

It doesn't help that he deals with those on the left who are rabid for his head on a daily basis. That's mental energy that can be used to improve the country in this regard.

Question: What are your (or anyone else's) suggestions to help this problem?
