I say good idea so that parents and teenagers who hate each other aren't stuck together. This way, a teenager could pay for a cell phone themselves and in their own name, live on their own, etc., and the parents wouldn't be liable. The parents would also be free from having to house and feed their teenager.

And will these theoretical teenagers be self-supporting?

Despite the fact that a lot of parents/kids have trouble getting along, I'm getting that fairly few genuinely hate each other.

So, a teenager at 13 could live on their own or would their be a minimum age limit? I know, stupid question but still relevant. A lot of things in life can't be had until a person is at least 18 years old.

Are we changing labor laws at the same time? How is a 13 year old going to support himself?

It’s a ridiculous idea that teenagers should be able to emancipate themselves. They are going to go from being dependent on their families to being dependent on taxpayers.

With my plan, they would be ineligable for government support.

I don't like getting my relationship advice from the government.

For life, or just until they turn 18?
