Yeah, I just kept hoping the Rs would finally wake up and get real.
I'm in a real cynical place right now and feel nothing short of divine intervention or a friendly UFO invasion can save our country from all the mega corruption, dysfunction, and incompetence.

BS

Trump put himself in a position where he can't possibly keep promises he made. Short term gains were traded for long term failure. Dems will decimate the military again when in power.

Wall, sanctuary cities, safety of the citizen who will continue to be harmed by illegal criminals, etc.............

The whole reason so many Repubs are angry is because your entire party is a giant con and is based on a lie. The GOP has never balanced a budget, reduced govnt, or rolled back America to a 1950s social life. You guys are angry because your party has been conning you since Reagan
The GOP has been conning people since Nixon. Goldwater was the last GOP nominee worth a damn.

I would add one more thing - Republicans have wrapped themselves in the flag in order to divide the country further, while Liberals, Independents, and others have died alongside them in wartime. Democrats want a strong military; we just don't want every day to be Christmas for some contractors.

Yep. Anyone who's had close friends in abusive relationships knows the routine.

The boyfriend (or girlfriend) hits them.

They swear they're really done with that relationship this time, and you're hopeful and give them words of encouragement over drinks during happy hour.

A few days later, their partner give them the jewellery they've always wanted and give them a theatrical spiel about how they'll never do that again.

Before you know it, they're back to making out in public everywhere.

You pull your friend aside and ask why they took their partner back, and they get mad at you and ask you what you're talking about. And they'll also say you're just jealous of their passionate enduring love.

Rinse and repeat until you're tired of caring about them anymore.

Time to give President Pence a shot! Let's see if he'll bald face LIE to our faces...

Sure you where. Just what you needed to share your Fantasy, right? Hold your breath until that happens, and be prepared for what happens if the Demorats try something that's not Constitutional and does not have the approval of the American People.

The Supreme Court declared a line item veto was illegal.

The GOP had to do something; the government was running out of money, and a shut-down in an election year would be an election-loser for them.

And it was just as important to do one big funding bill, so they would not have to come back every 90 days, interrupting campaigns, to vote for more emergency funding.

There was plenty of compromise swapping going on earlier, but Trump could never stick with any offer, and kept reversing himself.
Someone had to get it done, so congress took it out of his hands, and he got what they decided, since he couldn't make any decisions himself. Make no mistake- Congress would have over-ridden the veto.

Every single one of them has a career of their own to take care of. They couldn't allow the government to shut down, and they had to fund it until the election is over. The 90-day installment plan simply wouldn't work this year.

Hards financial realities, folks.

The budget would have been even bigger if the wall had been funded along with all the money that went to the military in this one. There was a lot of other major items that needed money, too, like FEMA; this has been a disastrous year for them, with all the fires, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes, and their funds were depleted. A lot of half-finished big projected needed to be completed.

It all costs money. The wall could be put off into the future, so it ended up on the bottom of the pile.
