Since it always seems to fall on someone like myself to come up with a win win answer for everyone, here are the gun laws I propose.
1 No one under 21 can purchase a handgun or semi automatic assault rifle. 18 year olds can purchase shotguns, hunting rifles and small caliber non repeating rifles.
2 No guns shall be brought onto school or hospital property.
3 Anyone carrying a concealed or open handgun, who is not a licensed law enforcement representative or active duty military personnel requiring the possession of said handgun, must be in possession of a legal permit issued by his or her home state to possess the said gun.
4 No handguns will be sold to a person who has a history of mental illness or imprisonment.
#2. What about a police officer responding to a school/hospital shooting? What about a security guard? What about a teacher/nurse that is a retired police officer? Etc.?

1. Federal law prohibits under 21 year olds to purchase handguns already.
2. Already the law. How's it working out?
3. Many states already require CCW permits. Active duty military are not exempt and, in fact, may not be armed aboard the installation.
4. Already federal law for not just handguns but all firearms.
We are way beyond little tweaks to massage our conscience, and think that some change will come of it. The answer is in everyone's mind, but they won't say it. NO MORE GUNS. How do we get there? I have no ****ing idea, but we need to get there. How is it an inalienable right to have a gun? Do we put guns in the tiny hands of newborns and say " Here baby, it's your inalienable right to wield a firearm". No we do not.
We need to look at the Constitution of the United States, look at when it was written, and the practices of those who wrote it. Maybe we need some amendments, or even a new Constitution.
They were slave owners, and traders. Perhaps they were afraid of a revolt and uprising. They were all white, male, middle aged slave owners.
Perhaps they were thinking about another British invasion. We needed a set of laws to govern the land in order to prosper and to form a society, and to show solidarity.
We are so far past that era, we need a model for modern society.

good idea, now why didnt anyone else think of that? or perhaps the laws already on the books are not good enough for you? perhaps its because they are not being properly enforced?

Yep, bet the Criminals are just waiting to abide by those Laws. Its already against the Law to kill people with a gun or any other weapon. So you think a Criminal intent on killing students will wait till they leave the school because its against the Law to bring a gun on school property? Yep. Good deterrent.
